This ?marks the second anniversary Jof Little Bloomsbury, which was "rather unusually staged at the private residence of a Londoner, •Dr. Brenda Sun, who came • here two summers ago to teach -global business strategy at USU. !; "In London, many of the ) most popular galleries are set ;not in a museum but a cozy mansion of sorts," said Brenda Sun, one of the initial creators of Little Bloomsbury. ; The three-day event will be held at 181 N. 200 East in Logan. Admission is free and open to the public. The celebration runs this Friday, 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday to 6 p.m.. Art of all kinds will be displayed and discussed from artists from Cache Valley and beyond. Saturday will also include a hands-on kids' corner will be available for purchase to raise funds for Cache Valley's newest theatre company. Music Theatre West, who is offering a special ticket package to all Little Bloomsbury attendees. Jay Richards, executive director of Music Theatre West said, "I've heard it said that you can tell a lot about a community by the art it produces. I believe that level is elevated expom-niialK when the members nf thai community are the ones producing it." Little Bloomsbury began as an alternative to a house warming party for Dr. Sun, who "loves music and the arts just the same". Following last year's event which admitted more than 300 parties, many requests were received to hold the Bohemian celebration again. With such an enthusiastic response, Diane Conner, curator for the show, and Susan Salmon, advisor to Dr. Sun thought it fitting to make it an annual community-building experience. Major sponsors of this year's event include Cache Valley Visitor's Bureau, China King Buffet, Country Village Antique Mall, FedEx Kinko's, and Great Harvest Bread Company. The event will feature artists who are committed to producing "high-quality affordable art" to help warm up the spirit of the community. Sun said "We want to see the proceeds from any art sold support the performing arts and chose a new theatre company, Music Theatre West, as the benefactors." Little Bloomsbury is the spirit of community Sun said she hopes to bring together in Cache Valley with the help and support of friends from the art, music, literacy, and business circles. "1 named the community project after one of my favorite places, Bloomsbury of London," Sun said. "Bloomsbury is a stone's throw from the London School of Economics, my alma mater, and is known for its literary connections to the Bloomsbury Group, which included writer Virginia Woolf, painters Roger Fry and Duncan Grant, economist John Maynard Keynes, psychoanalyst Adrian Stephen, historian Lytton Strachey, and journalist Desmond MacCarthy. Music Theatre West was founded by Jay Richards, a local composer and musician. They will audition for their upcoming shows, Little Women and The Sound of Music on May 7, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dansante building. They are also holding a Music Theatre Workshop for children and teens, June 2 to 6 at the Bullen Center.
