School clubs and organizations have now received the green light to bring in whatever food they want for their events. Previously, Food Services demanded that any food for an event held on campus had to be done through them. This created problems for many organizations that wanted to bring in specific fooci items. Sometimes despite finding a less expensive caterer, clubs were forced to go through Food Services because of the restrictions. At some events, like multicultural celebrations, ethnic foods are on the menu. These foods represent the culinary traditions of a culture and sometimes have very specific recipes that are best prepared by those who have experience. While Food Services does employ many talented cooks, not everything could be prepared exactly as the groups wanted. Sometimes organizations would feel the overall effect of their event was diminished by not getting exactly what they wanted. This move by the Food Services is to be applauded. It finally shows a positive response by Food Services to the requests of students - those who keep them in business. Food Services has caught flack for being both anti-business and over-capitalistic. Yet, this move shows what a good business is all about. The best businesses listen to their customers and adapt to new circumstances to create a winning situation for the customer and the business. USU Food Services has done just that. Kudos for them. r c Editor in Chief popularity awards lately. u -• COUGH!
