HERE To AFFIRM THE TiMELESS, iMMUTABLE TRUTH: It happens every year. ASUSLJ candidates depend on national and local companies to win the election. ASUSLJ hopefuls, every year, continue to either intentionally or not intentionally violate copyright laws and compete for the best local coupon on the backside of their fliers. While the issue of potentially copyrighting signs is a problem, it's doubtful a big, national company would sue a single candidate from Utah State University. But, by using another company's symbol, candidates lose all originality in w tne r flllP VlPW -^akA^•••'•• v ' campaign, while L-UyJL IIv.tf <&8&&&&£ti£& using any professional status their campaign. How often do you see a state representative or even a city council member using a Nike, Quiznos, Mastercard or Pez symbol in their race? That kind of campaigning is more reminiscent of high school. I have been raised in a very strong LDS family my whole life. I have a very deep love and belief in the LDS faith, and I am gay. Coming to terms with this has been made extremely difficult for me, due to the fact that there are those members who defy the teachings of Christ and repeatedly try to attack who and what I am. Honestly, do you really think that I would "choose" to live my life as a gay person? Do you believe I would "choose" to break my mother's heart and destroy her dreams of my future? Frankly, I am church teaches and not each of us can see ourselves having to deal with these complex issues in the future. I, at least, can see the logic and understand the feelings of both sides. I may not agree with one, but discussing that is moot at this point and not my intent here. I admit I have little in way of an answer to any of these questions. What I do have however, is an observation that in my estimation is more alarming then Schiavo's situation. It is truly awful that Schiavo's legacy will not be remembered as an example of why legal communication (Living Wills) should be made; rather What is the most essential of privacy that it will serve as yet another great example of how congress has aspect of the relationship Americans expect forgotten the Constitution. between a patient and a and deserve when it health care provider? Your health care provider knows your most intimate secrets - your sexual history, your mental state, the substances you use, the medications you need, and, if you are a woman, whether you have been pregnant, miscarried, or had an abortion. These are all the stories your body tells over the years about your choices, your decisions, and your life. These are details your health care provider needs to know, the disclosures and confidences that ensure you get the right kind of medical care to stay healthy and well. But today, that sacrosanct right to medical confidentiality is in grave peril. The assaults are particularly grievous in two states: Why the Right is Right Staff Assistant News Editor Brooke Nelson Letters to the Editor Government right to remain limited, constrained Utah Statesman Christ-like behavior. Just because a person is gay doesn't meant they are without heart and feelings. We hurt just like everyone else does. I have been taught my whole life to love one another, judge not that ye shall not be judged and to let he who is without sin cast the first stone. These are principles that I live my life by. My life is not void of sin, but being gay is not one of them. I am a child of God and his light radiates within me. To hate is a personal choice and we all possess free agency so you can accept me, rob me of my rights, even burn me at the stake, but I am gay and I am here to stay. Tiffany Larsen Alcohol ads miss the point Editor, The anti-alcohoi ad in the March 30 issue of the Statesman completely misses the point. The point of alcohol is not to make the drinker sexier; it is intended to make others look sexier. Obviously the the group responsible for this "research" failed to examine the issue in depth.
