In a Wednesday column by Jon Cox, it was said that a faculty forum discussed the expansion of benefits for same-sex couples and rejected it for now. The forum was not a legislative body, so nothing was officially decided rejected or accepted. In a Wednesday column by Cy Martz, an interview of President Bush by Sean Hannity was cited, but the interview was actually conducted by Brit Hume in 2003. A caption on a Wednesday picture of Jeannie Johnson that said "method of execution" was actually referring to how the agency is handling terrorism, not executing people. Due to editorial errors in the ASUSU candidate section Wednesday, Shaun Printsters name was misspelled and his home town was wrong. He is actually from Centerville. Also, ASUSU candidate Chris Steele was mistakenly referred to as "she," but Steele is a male. Before any ballots were cast, opposition leaders and independent rights groups said the vote was already skewed by years of violence and intimation. "I think we all agree on all benchmarks this is not going to be afreeand fair election," opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai said as he voted in a Harare suburb. Encouraged by a marked drop in violence against the opposition in recent weeks, he remained optimistic that his Movement for Democratic Change party could muster enough support to overturn Mugabe's Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front. PINELLAS PARK, Fla, - With her husband and parents feuding to the bitter end and beyond, Terri Schiavo died Thursday, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed in a wrenching right-todie dispute that engulfed the courts, Capitol Hill and the White House and divided the country. Cradled by her husband, Schiavo, 41, died a "calm, peaceful and gentle death" at about 9 a,m., a stuffed animal under her arm, flowers arranged around her hospice room, said George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney. No onefromher side of the family was with her at the moment of her death. Her parents, Bob and Mary SchincQer, were not at the hospice, Felos said. And her brother had been expelled from the room at Michael Schiavo's request moments before the end came. The death of the severely brain-damaged woman brought to a close what was easily the longest, most bitter — and most heavily litigated — right-to-die dispute in U.S. history. "Mr. Schiavo's overriding concern here was to provide for Terri a peaceful death with dignity," said Felos, who was also present at the death. But the Rev. Frank Pavone, one of the Schindlers' spiritual advisers, called her death "a killing," adding: "And for that we not only grieve that Terri has passed but we grieve that our nation has allowed such an atrocity as this and we pray that it will never happen again." The latest health setback for the 84year-old pontiff came one day after he began receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. "The Holy Father today was struck by a high-fever caused by a confirmed infection of the urinary tract," spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls told The Associated Press by telephone. The pope was receiving antibiotics at the Vatican, Navarro-Valls said. "The medical situation is being strictly controlled by the Vatican medical team that is taking care of him," he said. Italian media said there were unconfirmed reports John Paul had received the sacrament of the anointing of the sick — what used to be called the lastritesor extreme unction — but Vatican officials could not be reached for comment. The sacrament is often misunderstood as signaling imminent death. But it is performed not only for patients at the point of death, but also those facing grave illness or a serious operation — and it may be repeated. At the Gemelli Polyclinic, where the pope has been treated before, an emergency room chief said there were no plans to admit John Paul "at the moment," the Italian news agency ANSA said. The light remained on in the Apostolic Palace's nursing station on the same floor as the pope's apartment. Police cars and other vehicles were seen going in and out of the Vatican gates as the evening wore on, and a small crowd of Italians who were following news on television began gathering at the edge of the square. Earlier, ANSA and another Italian news agency, Apcom, said the pope had suffered an alarming drop in blood pressure Thursday evening. A urinary infection can produce fever and a drop in blood pressure as reported in the pope, said Dr. Marc Siegel, a specialist in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center. The pope'sriskof such an infection is heightened because he is elderly — which suggests his prostate is probably enlarged — debilitated and run down from the illness that recently sent him to the hospital, Siegel said. Urinary infections tend to respond well to antibiotics, given either as pills or intravenously, and ul would suspect there's a very good chance he's going to recover well" Siegel said. Hospitalized twice last month following two breathing crises and with a tube placed in his throat to help him breathe, John Paul has become a picture of suffering. NEW YORK (AP) - Tired of pregnancy reports, Britney Speais is lashing out at tabloid magazines. "Do you, Us Weekly, In Touch, Star and other desperate magazines want employees who are honest, or those who are liars?" Spears writes in a posting on her Web site addressed "Dear False Tabloids." Rumors have recently swirled that the 23-year-old pop star is pregnant and that her marriage to Kevin Federline is on the rocks. Spears didn't specifically address either issue, but instead asked magazines for some self-examination. "Your employees are a reflection of your magazine" she writes in her posting. "I'm really concerned about the people you hire to work at your companies. "I'd like them to ask themselves the question, What am I lying to myself about?' Is it that you are 50 pounds overweight? Is it that your children aren't making wise decisions? Or is it maybe that your husband or boyfriend is cheating on you?" On Thursday, Pamela Anderson told "Access Hollywood" in an interview that she supported Spears. "I could be suing everybody for misrepresenting or misjudging character" the actress said. "At the end of the day, hopefully people realize that the tabloids are just awful. They sell magazines based on negative stories about people, I mean no one's going to buy happy stories." In February, Spears lamented Us Weekly's decision to publish pictures of her and Federline taken by employees at a Fiji islands hotel during the couple's October honeymoon. But Us Weekly didn't back down. The magazine issued a statement saying, "Britney Spears should start a magazine if she'd like to dictate her own coverage." NEW YORK (AP) - Ashton Kuteher says the concept for his new movie, "Guess Who," started with P. Diddy. "The idea really came from when I was spending time with Sean Combs and people couldn't figure out why the two of us were hanging out together" Kuteher says in the April issue of Interview magazine. "They really couldn't look past the race line " "Guess Who," which debuted at No. 1 at the box office last weekend, is a remake of the 1967 classic "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." In the present incarnation, many of the characters' races have beenflipped.Kuteher plays Sidney Poitiers role and Bernie Mac is a version of Spencer Tracy.
