Show will launch campaign to raise funds for red cross in order to continue the good work which Is being handled under the direction of the officers of the chapter of the ked red cross it will be necessary to raise a large sum of money and last saturday members of the finance committee held a meeting for the purpose of outlining a plan whereby the ne needed eded funds can be secured reports sub bitted at this meeting show that the local organization Is now in debt and tor for that reason it is absolutely ne cessare that a campaign tor for funds be launched without delay it Is understood that an effort will be made to secure 1 a month for a period of four months from each man who is employed at the mines and the same amount from those who are employed in other lines of work here in tintic gintic while business men will be asked to con tribute larger amounts mining corn com banies will also be called upon tor for contributions and in this manner am pie money should be secured for a continuation of the splendid work of the red cross in some parts of the country par ticul arly in nevada and arizona mining camps the men are giving as much as a shift shifts s work each month to the red cross and other organ lations which are working to light en the burdens of the war and there certainly should be no objection to an assessment of a dollar a month tor for tour four months on the working people of tintic gintic especially when others who are better able to give have been asked for much larger sums the man who buys war stamps and bonds Is certainly en titled to no great amount of credit because he Is getting value received for every dollar that he gives up naturally he has the satisfaction of knowing that his money will be us ed in the prosecution of the war but after all his purchases of these se be curit les are nothing more than good investments athe the money which he gives to the red croes Is la in ret ity the only amonoy that he gives with out receiving something in return and surely it if others who are in the service can give so much the man who remains at home in safety and receives the benefits of the present high wages can well afford to give a dollar each month to such a worthy cause the following appeal for funds is being sent out to residents of the district do you want the boys in france to be well cared for tora then please read this letter carefully of course you are depending up on the red cross to take care of your boy or your neighbor neighbors s boy somewhere in france to supply him with sweaters socks and other articles of clothing for jor his krotec tion while in camp or in the trenches to supply him with the warm soup and nourishing food when it is im possible for or him to reach camp to furnish nurses bandages and hospi tal supplies it if he is wounded to look out for his interests it if he Is taken prisoner to see that his let reach you and that your letters reach him in orther words you are depending upon the red cross to do 0 for your boy or your neighbor neighbors s boy all of those things so essential to a soldier soldiers s welfare and which your are unable to do tor for him besides this you are depending upon the red cross to provide shel ter and clothing for the millions of un people in france and belgium who have been made desti tute by the enemies cannon to bring comfort encouragement and cheer to the defenseless women and children of our stricken allies the american red cross is doing all this and will continue to do it on one condition that is IF THE AM PEOPLE WILL FURNISH THE NECESSARY MONEY labor tor for the red cross costs nothing but it takes money to buy materials it the local chapter is to do its share in taking care of the boys more money must be raised to pay for the material the denver head read quarters are now sending us at act ual cost about 2000 00 worth of material per month to be made up and shipped to france since march 1st chapter has made the tol fol lowing articles socks pairs sweaters wristlets 5 pairs hos pital supplies 1817 articles refugee garments 1031 hospital garments 2682 2582 surgical dressings 50 to tal 57 67 articles surely you are not willing that this work should stop tor for lack of funds between september and you will be asked to sign a pledge for a certain monthly sum not less than 1 00 more it if you pos sibly can to be paid each month tor for the tour four remaining months of 1918 while 75 per cent of the money from the last drive went to the na organization all of these pledges will be used for the local chapter it if everyone is willing to do his part the chapter can continue to take care of the work as signed to it from denver Head PLEASE SIGN THE PLEDGE respectfully I 1 L williamson 3 chairman tanile chap chapter t er JOHN J CRONIN chairman ex ux com CECIL FITCH PITCH chairman fin corn com |
