Show DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE 8 SPORTSING Continued from page 6 America loves the most — sports. North Korea's first strike against the United States will be on the basketball court against the Runnin' Utes. Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak has known Rodman ever since the Worm took over his locker when Krytskowiak left the Chicago Bulls. Krystkwoiak is a Montana-born, U.S.-loving man and proudly hung a U.S. flag in the locker. Rodman took offense to such things, and the two have never mended that bridge. Upon hearing Rodman was organizing a team, Krystkowaik was the first American to step up and challenge the North Koreans. That challenge has been accepted. "You are never as good as you think you are, and you are never as bad as you think you are," Kyrstkowiak said about the upcoming game to be played in North Korea. The Utes will travel to Korea a month before the contest, stay in a cabin and participate in a number of training drills that will culminate in the team climbing a really tall mountain with Survivor blasting an '8os rock ballad in the background. Yes, it will be awesome. "They will show they have a lot of moxie," Kristkowiak said about the fu- ture training montage. According to Rodman, the North Koreans are already ready. "Think of eight LeBron Jameses Actually, no, that doesn't give them justice," Rodman said. "Think of eight LeBron Jameses if LeBron James took as much `roids as Barry Bond ... Then you have our bench." It is rumored the North Korean team recently took down world-ranked No. 2 Spain in a closed-door scrimmage, 19832. That recent game is being blamed for the struggles of Lakers big man Pau Gasol as well as his brother, Memphis Grizzlies center Marc. Some are also pointing to that matchup as the reason for Minnesota Timberwolves' guard Ricky Rubio's complete lack of confidence. Carmelo Anthony is also pointing to the game as the culprit for the Knicks' struggles this season, though nobody can really explain why. Utah will go up against players that will be bigger, stronger, can jump higher and run faster than them. If Delon Wright and company are competitive, it could prove to be a world-altering event. For as Rocky said to a once pro-Russian crowd that than chanted his name, "If you's can change and I's can change ... everybody's can change." iamthefirstryan@chronicle.utah.edu Tuesday, April 1, 2014 WORLD RECORD Continued from page 6 locker room without being swallowed by a mob of reporters and bright lights. "Please, please just let me get back to coaching my team," Stykstra said. "I realize what I just did was incredible, and it makes me look really cool, but I'm really cold because that water is freezing, and I'd like to warm up." As he returned from the OVER IT Continued from page 6 Marsden's new profession, however, Highthrop's tune changed. "I am so excited for her," she said. "Megan is going to be such an incredible rodeo clown." Greg Marsden ends his career as the winningest coach in college gymnastics history. This season he surpassed the woowin mark. Under his leadership, Utah won to national championships, and he is known throughout the country as a great pro- locker room, Stykstra received a standing ovation as the crowd went wild. However, he thought nothing of it. No matter what he thought or what he wanted, Stykstra was now a superstar and would have endorsement deals coming at him faster than the record he just set. Some athletes might feel bad about abandoning their team in a moment of need, but Yoedel couldn't be happier. Without his absence in the 50-yard freestyle race, Stykstra would have never recorded history. "I just told him how incredible it was," Yoedel said. "I also told him I would like to race him once we get back to Utah. I'll probably regret it if he beats me, but I don't think he can go that fast again." In the end, Utah had a pretty successful meet, but the lasting image of the 2014 NCAA Championships will always be Coach Stykstra's record-breaking swim. pololololo@chronicle.utah.edu moter of the sport. Megan Marsden was a threetime individual champion during her collegiate career from 19811984. She joined her husband on the coaching staff in 1985. She ultimately became co-head coach in 2010. "We'll miss this place," she said, tears streaming down her face. "But we always tell the girls to chase their dreams, and we figured it was time we practiced what we preach." puffmacdaddy@ chronicle.utah.edu speak twit - twidiotwidiot tweet • VI • V ....N. er RT er tv he spec Its, of _eted need mo twee speak twitter speak twitter tweet a uCi speak twitter ittertweet lac twidiot widiotwidiot need more tweets nothertw ck tweet sp RT rRT ertwi, icker rtweet nnot tw et a little narae r r e nr t ot t ,t • ed more tweets?
