Show says northwest Is now in very prosperous shape andrew johnson well known re aident of eureka returned to th the e camp late last week after spending more than a month in the northwest where he went with the intention of purchasing a new home he spent a good part of the time in visiting with the families of his old time friends victor carlson and I 1 isaac S aaa both of whom t are getting along nicely they are both located at warren which is near portland being engaged in farming the agricultural ri sections of oregon and washington vas hington were not at their best when mr air johnson was there owing to a long dry spell which has result ed in a heavy damage to growing crops for two seasons the weather has been anything but favorable and old timers of that locality are un able to account for the absence oi of the rainfall on which they depend to such a great extent I 1 things are nevertheless booming in the northwest according to mr johnson this being due to the the snip ship building industry which has put new life into everyone of the larger cities of the states of washington and ore oregon gon work Is plentiful in the shipyards and manufacturing es and wages are quite high the cost of living has gone up about as fast as the virges bow how ever and it is doubtful it if the peo pie there are any better oft off than are the residents of utah mr johnson failed to find any thing in the farming line that looked good to him and consequently will emain remain in eureka |
