Show local and personal mrs T 1 tregoning of mammoth has returned from reno nevada where she was called by the death of her father mrs E R J duggan and mrs T A mccormick were the guests of Spring springville ville friends during the past week superintendent john H mccary stal of the gemini was at provo on business on thursday and friday of this week W D loose manager of the gold chain and grand central mines at mammoth was at provo on tuesday going there by auto to attend to min ing business miss mary stanton Is visiting with I 1 relatives and friends at salt lake for a few days and while there will be one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of miss lenora thayer a former resident of this city J 11 II buys and family returned during the early part of the week from a ten days auto trip to fieber bieber city and the strawberry valley they found the roads in splendid condi tion and had a very pleasant trip the members of the eureka vol gunteer fire department will hold a meeting at the city hall this evening tor for the purpose of selecting dele gates to the state convention which will be held at bingham on satur day july W E who has been home on a fifteen day furlough ex pacts to return to camp at kelly field during the early part of the coming week mr wanless is a member of the kelly field orchestra and Is getting along nicely with his work there john hannifin had the misfortune to have his toot foot quite badly smashed in an accident at the chief cons mine last tuesday evening and he will be compelled to be oft off duty for several days the accident occurred about seven 0 clock in the evening just as he was placing an ore car on the cage and in some manner caught his foot between the car and the heavy timbers and was quite badly bruised yet not seriously mrs W J lucas received a letter during the early part of the week from her brother henry houston who left last month with the mar inea ines and who is now stationed at mare island california mr hous ton was formerly of sandy but spent the past two years in eureka work ing in the different mines and is quite well known to eureka people he ile states that they have aplenty to eat at a good place to sleep and Is well pleaded so far about 6 0 clock wednesday night a large ton and a halt half boulder top pled off the point of the mountain lust just west of eureka and rolled down onto the main tintic gintic wagon road the rock landed in such a position that traffic was not entirely ob strutted ted however there is but room for one vehicle at a time to pass this point at certain hours of the day there is almost a continuous stream of travel on this section of the road and it mas fortunate that the bould er did not break away as some ve hide hicle was passing the matter of securing the utah artillery band tor for a concert in eureka is a matter that has not yet fet been fully decided upon it has been learned that the expense of such a concert would amount to more than and the committee in charge has been debating whether or not this money could not be put into red cross and relief work to a better advantage as there is a pres sing need at the present time for every dollar that the district can spare the wish of the people Is de I 1 sired however as the committee wants want S to act for or the best interests of all concerned mr and mrs D C wheeler have returned to their home in silver city after spending several days at salt lake city with friends manager jackson mcchrystal of the gemini ridge valley and oth er mining properties of tintic gintic was out from salt lake this week look ing after business matters in con lection with these mines |
