Then don’t miss this one-of-akind Ogden Valley romance event! With a long tradition of community dances going back to 1896, the Hearthside in Eden, cosponsored with Weber County Heritage Foundation, will host this signature Frozen Hearts Ball featuring not one, but two local bands—Ogden Valley Frozen Hearts Club Band and Eden’s Yellow Rose who will be reprising popular Beatles love songs, along ers from across the decades. If you’re looking for the perfect prescription for all and anything that ails you, this is it! Everyone is welcome—old and young! Come with family, friends, and neighbors— with or without a date. Just don’t be late! Time and Location: 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hearthside, 5612 E. 2200 N. in Eden, Utah. Refreshments will be served. A $10 donation per person is suggested. Dress is semi-formal. Beginning February 2, abilities are Mountain Arts and Music will once again hold their Open Studio and Music Circle programs the first and third Wednesday of each month from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event is held at the Eden Community Center located at Eden Park. Artists are invited to bring their artwork to work on. An art instructor will be available for guidance. You can also glean ideas and inspiration from other attending artists while carving out time for your own project! During the Music Circle musicians of all invited to attend at play music with others, learn new songs, and work up songs to bring and share, and serenade other artists! Increasingly, scientific evidence is proving that participating in artistic endeavors enhances brain function, positively impacting brain wave patterns and emotions, and can raise serotonin levels. It also has shown to improve overall academic achievement and social and emotional development, creativity, and improved emotional balance. Once again, it is time for “Kindergarten Round Up” at Valley Elementary. This is for all children who will be 5 years old before September 2, 2022. If your child qualifies, you can find the registration paperwork online at Valley.wsd.net. Registration paperwork needs to be returned to Valley Elementary as soon as possible. Also, we will need the student’s official birth certificate, immunization record, and a copy of verification of residency. Snowcrest Jr. High Announces Upcoming Performance of School Play Snowcrest Jr. High Theatre presents 15 Reasons Not To Be In A Play, written by Alan Haehnel. The school play will be presented March 3 and March 4 at 7:00 p.m. each evening in Snowcrest Junior High’s commons area. Tickets for the play are $3 each, $2 for students, or $10 for a family. Children ages two and under will be admitted free of charge. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. 15 Reasons Not To Be In A Play is a comedic one-act play that lasts approximately 45 minutes. Students auditioned for the play in December and have been rehearsing after school. They have worked very hard and do a spectacular job. Come join them as they tell you all the reasons why you should never be in a play! Hint: You might miss an important message on your phone, get stuck in a tree costume, or cause catastrophic weather changes. The play’s cast includes Carlee Anderson, Aiden Bindrup, Liberty Bingham, Daniel Bohn, Hallie Brower, Jonah Bowles, Lilian Carter, Sofia Cummens, Arianne Davenport, LillieKate, Davenport, Jade Eblen, Jase Erickson, Sydney Fonoti, Annie Franzen, Emily Franzen, Sabrina Froerer, Indira Georgi, Kelli Griffin, Jaynanne Hewitt, Frankie Lowe, Liberty McKinney, Maya Miller, Isabelle Primm, Sophie Riggs, Allyson Schields, Lauryn Silverberg, Noah Stapp, Sol Stewart, Oakley Udy, Claire Wangsgard, and Paige Wilcox. The play is being directed by Amanda Harris. The Eccles Art Center Announces 18th Black & White Statewide Competition The Eccles Art Center’s Main Gallery will open a juried exhibition of artwork from our 18th Black & White Statewide Competition. This exhibition opens Friday, February 4 and will continue on display through Saturday, February 26, 2022. Admission to the art center’s galleries are complimentary. The 18th Black & White Statewide is a juried biennial competition open to recent works by Utah artists. Original work in visual media—including paintings, prints, monoprints, drawings, graphics, photographs, pottery, sculptures, and textiles—are eligible for entry. Giclee and other reproduction prints will not be accepted. This competition is popular with Utah artists, photographers, and art center patrons. The Eccles Art Center is not currently equipped to exhibit audio or video entries. Works displayed will be in black, white, and/or shades of gray. The art center staff appreciates the assistance of the jurors who review, and curate works chosen for the exhibit, as well as assisting in the judging of awards.
