Show Volume XXIX Issue VI The Ogden Valley News Page 3 February 1, 2022 Valley Girls Hold Their Own in Huntsville Town Mayor Jim Truett Honored at Open House National Pickleball Tournament Former Huntsville mayor Jim Truett was honored January 21 at an open house at The Huntsville Mercantile in Huntsville Town. He was honored for his 18 years of service to the community. About a hundred people attended the event, thanking the mayor for his many years of service to the town of Huntsville. By Shanna Francis Wendy McKay of Huntsville and Corey Hansen of Liberty took gold at the Regional Tournament of Champions pickleball tourney, winning a golden ticket to Nationals. Wendy stated, “We had a great time playing through the wins and the loses.” In December, the two Huntsville women played in the out-of-state 2021 national tournament and finished tied with the top quarter finalists for their age group from about 52 players and 26 teams. Teams from all over the country, including Florida, California, Utah, Texas, and Michigan etc., competed. The National tournament was held at the famous tennis facility in Indian Wells, California, located just outside of Palm Springs, which boasts 28 world class tennis courts along with a unique championship pickleball court.
