Larson. The salary hikes the third adjustment since Januwill affect ary, 1968 command-leve- l deputies, and, in certain cases, favor years of department service over rank, Sheriff Larson said. The adjustments raise his deputies eqjal to salary of county firemen ar.d a little less than Salt Lake City policemen. Personnel who object to the schedule may make a formal complaint to the Salt Lake County Merit Council. One member of the department cited an example in r which a captain will be making no more than two captains hired a year ago. The adjustment scale shows that under the new plan a lieutenant could be making less money (at $744 monthly) than seven sergeants (paid up years service, $788 for a sergeant, $816 for a lieutenant, and $1 026 for captains.
