Reed Gordon, the leagues other president, also has sons who have moved up in the tennis world since their graduation from the little league program. The program consists of five leagues and 25 teams and sports a roster of 250 players. The players hail from Ogden, the Cottonwood Club, the Salt Lake Tennis Club, Fort Douglas and Virginia Heights in Bountiful. The only fee that the youthful netters pay is two dollars for a United States Lawn and Tennis Association card. This card will admit them to most important tournaments in the state as well as the little . league program. , League play starts the second week of June and ends with the all-stmatches in , ar (FrG3SS late July. The players are divided into leagues according to ability and sex. Top boys play in the Boys A League while top girls play in the Girls A League. Boys also have a B and C league while girls sport a B Get up to boudle Your r: league. Each team has a coach and usually a manager. These coaches are older players who volunteer their time to help the players in practice sessions and matches. Practice starts early in May. A team plays its top seven players in singles matches against the opposing teams top seven players. A team must win four or more matches to win an event. In the Boys A League, an individual match is when a player wins eight games. The rest of the divisions win a match when a player wins six games. Little league teams consist of the ten best players in each league. The final match of the season pits five of these all stars against the other five in singles competition. The tennis world will soon start noticing sucli little league stars as Brent Leve-toMike Pardoe and Ian Rothfells.
