Dear Mary Marker: 1 am a grandma, and during my lifetime I have seen many young couples go to their parents for help, when faced with a finanture person. Grandma cial crisis. Sometimes the parents have Dear Grandma: You have given most of their savings to made an excellent point: that the young people. Too often, people aeed to learn early in both the young and the older ones fail to think about the consequences. Then in later years, the young couple may have to take one parent or both into their home to live permanently, as a couple did in a case discussed in your column a short time ago. MAY BE DIFFICULT This can work out and sometimes does. But actually some older people are almost impossible to live with. The point I want to make is that everybody should learn two important facts very early in life. One, everything has a price; two, it is more difficult for an older person to change than for a young one. The Chinese custom has always been for the older folks to lay down the law and for the young to comply. I do not approve of this custom, but since I dont approve, that means I must be willing to pay for my own mistakes, or to get myself out of hot water whenever I find myself in it That is part of becoming a mature person. Paste fabric on wall if shelves have no backing, on the wood if they're part of a hutch. When fabric matches something else, such as draperies, the coordination is pleasing. With the new glues and wallpaper adhesives pasting is easier than you think. Before cutting the material, make taper patterns to fit. Put paste on the wall, not on the fabric, and be sure to ask your wallpaper store for something that wont stain. Fabric has a nice way of masking imperfections in plaster or wood that makes it practical as well as pretty. )UUUUULBJLMJUIJty.OJUUUULOJUUUL)UUUUUUUUL)UUULyjLKJUL)UUUUUUUUUULtUt-O.B-ll.- Plus F6r Homemaker News in the home decorating field comes from a new vertical blind which offers a special kind of light control and decoratlye potential.
