Mr. Feltenstein has reason to be sad. He's the father if the biggest development now on to going extract minerals from the lake a $30 million complex near Little Mountain. But now, just as the project was nearing fruit;on, he is out of a job, caught in a corporate dispute with his employers. , In his call from New York, the n executive didn't go into any of the details that led to his resignation as president of Lithium Corp. of America, president of Great Salt Lake Minerals and Chemical and as executive vice president of Gulf Resources Chemical Corp. The idea was millions in sound, but it would take a lot of cash fact. I watched these events unfold, and some of them I reported. It was easily apparent that it would take a sizeable investment if Utah ever developed its lake brines, and Lithium wasn't big , enough. Then Gulf Resources entered the picture. It acquired Lithium Corp., and assmned its role as a partner in Great Salt Lake Minerals and Chemical. Harry Feltenstein had his money for the Project and became an executive for Gulf Resources. Gulf became as enthused about the project as Felten-stei- n had been, and construction later began on the dikes for the extraction process. Plans were , announced to sell the magnesium chloride to Dow Chemical, and engineering started for two processing plants at the lake. About 300 jobs would be created.
