Show Wed. Oct. 7 SunXNews. 19. lbaa QUITE A NET FULL: These liny Catfish fingerlings were stocked into Redmond Lake last week by the Department of Wildlife Resources. More than 20,000 of the little fellows were released into the fishery. It won't be tong until fishermen are catching some nice big cats, DWR said. Changes are proposed for next year's fishing The Division of Wildlife Resources Fisheries Management Section held three meetings statewide to hear public comments on proposed changes to the 1989-9- 0 fishing proclamation. Some of the items discussed included: Set line fishing. A proto prohibit set line fishing, or posal charge a fee for the permit. The concern is for the illegal number of lines and hooks being used. In addition many of these lines are not properly attended to or identified. Reduce the trout baglimit for lakes in Weber and Bear River drainages during January 1 through May 26. This area now has a four trout limit on streams and an eight trout li it for lakes. Some anglers are taking more than the bag limit on a stream and when asked by wildlife conservation officer, they say that they took the fish on a lake. The second concern is that too many small trout, stocked as fingerlings in the Spring, are being taken in the winter on certain waters. Closure of all state waters to night time fishing. The rule may not apply to some warm water lakes. Its difficult to enforce a no nighttime fishing rule. However, Utahs population of trophy fish would like increase if night fishing is closed. Allow scuba and snorkel spearfishing for gamefish on Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Currently, Wyoming does permit spearfishing . on its side of Flaming Gorge, i Other changes to be dis cussed include: Reducing the limit to four trout on the tributaries to ! Scofield Reservoir, Set a size limit ; for Tiger Musky in Pineview Reservoir and a size limit for largcmouth bass in Hynim Res; Reduce the length of stream closed to protect Kokanee spawners on East Canyon Creek; Open Rockport Reservoir to bass fishing and allow taking two bass over 12 inches in length. Results of the hearings will be released shortly. r' .Jt , EXPECTING? Let - - - 5- - Announce The Happy Event. Following is a new one called the 1988th Psalm: Recreation is my shepherd, I shall not stay home; it maketh me to lie down in a sleeping bag; it leadeth me down the interstate each weekend. It restored! my suntan; it leadeth me to state parks for comforts sake. Even though I stray on the Lords Day, I will fear no reprimand, for I am relaxed; my rod and my reel they comfort me. I annoin-te- st my skin with oil, my gas tank runneth dry; surely my trailer shall follow me all the weekends of the summer, and I shall return to the House of the Lord this Fall.
