April 13, 1988 Baseball season gets going for the North Sevier Wolves Baseball season is now underfor the North Sevier Wolves way under the direction of Coach Craig Gladwell and Larry Shaheen. This years team is young playing only one senior and five juniors but they have promise as they get more experience playing high school baseball, said Gladwell. in They played Millard Fillmore last week where they JV won their four inning game 17-1- 6 and the varsity lost 13-Ricky Torgerson scored the only varsity point after a hit by Brandon Kiesel that brought him in. Rusty Bastian and Brandon Kiesel were the pitchers for the varsity while Brandon, Ricky Torgerson and Ross Anderson pitched for the JV game. We have a young team this vear and lack of e.x nerience and nlav- - Redmond News Tammy Johnson Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Johnson were in Loa over the Easter weekend to join Tammys family in Notom for fun in the sun and to enjoy Easter together. Sunday they traveled to Salt Lake City where they spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hansen and family. Monday, Heike Albertsen flew into the Salt Lake Airport after spending a week in Matzala Mexico with a tour group. Heike is an exchange student living with the Johnsons this year. UDell Johnson spent the Easter Weekend in St. George visiting with Jean Nelson. Jody Johnson, St. George visited with UDell Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and then in Midvale with Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Valarie) Hansen and Sue Johnson. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Kay Hales over the Easter Weekend was Karen Neilson and daughters, Kirt and Becky Hales and children, Collin and Karen Hales, Vanice and Lee Newman. The Newmans also spent sometime at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pryce Hales, and Don Hales. With the Pryce Hales family over Easter was Sherolynn Hales and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hales. They and the Kay Hales family went to Capitol Reef to enjoy Easter. Jenette Hales and Cheryl Hales were in Salt Lake over the past weekend to attend a baby shower and to visit with their children. Diane Jensen and family were here over the Easter weekend to spent sometime with Luella Jorgersen and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jensen. Lisa and Gary Learning and children were in Lake Powell over the Easter weekend with Lisas brothers and sisters. Lyman and Marci Anderson and daughter were in Bryce Canyon over the Easter holiday. The small town of Redmond was stunned by the death of two of its 529-755- 2 rcsidcnts. Earl Sorensons funeral was held Friday at 12 noon in the Redmond Ward Chapel. His daughter Mr. and Mrs. Kim (Carma) Despain, Las Vegas were here as were many other friends and relatives of the family. Dora Weller a sister was also in attendance. Chase Clement Johnson. 13 month old son of John and Roxanne Funeral Johnson, died Tuesday. Services were held in the Redmond Ward Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Out of town relatives were Roxannes father Frann DeBiasi, Alabama, her brother Joe DeBiasi and a friend Monica Sea, California, her sister Mr. and Mrs. Gcrold and (Suzanne) Brockner and son Levi, Washington, Shirley and Richard Holder, Magna. Johns sisters, Sue Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Valerie) Hansen, Jody Johnson and other friends and relatives. Here for the funeral of Chase Johnson adn to visit with her sister was Jean Nelson, St. George. Over the Easter weekend all of their children of Evan and Marge Mickelsen were here. Sixty-tw- o people camped on the South Red Knoll and had a great time. Also with the Mickelsen family was the Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Shaw, Aurora and mrs. Trent Cowley and 5 children, Wyoming. Evan Mickelsen is a patient of the Gunnison Valley Hospital and will hopefully soon be feeling well enough to return home. Becky Brown and Jan Brown were in Redmond to get their sister, Tammy Johnson. The girls went to Gunnison to visit with their sister, Valene King who is in the hospital. The Annual Desert Horse Ride took place this past weekend. Many men left Thursday and returned Sunday after spending the weekend at Salt Creek. The Merrie Miss Memoriam held was Sunday. By the end of first quarter 1988, 525,935 visitors had toured the historic site. They came from nearly every state and many foreign countries, according to Joseph Home, director of Temple Square. Public relations director of Temple Square, Quig Nielsen, noted that there was an increase of 123,21 1 recorded for the same period of 1987. If the upward trend continues, visitation to the square could reach the four million mark by years end. A sample survey taken during a ten day period in January, noted that 70 percent of the visitors were not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints; 62 percent were from out of the state of Utah; and 12 percent were from foreign countries. Shot Put: Joni Reynolds, 1st place, Jill Marshall, 4th place;Discus: Joni Reynolds, 1st place; High Jump: Kenalee Glover, 1st and Angie Mason 2nd; 100 Hurdles: Kenalee Glover, 2nd and Christine S mith, 5th; 300 Hurdles: Christine Smith 4th and Kenalee 1st; 400 meters: Rebecca Johnson, 1st place; 4 x 100 Relay: Rebecca Johnson, Kenri Malmgren, Tiffany Waters and Michelle Rosquist, 2nd place; Medley Relay: Kerri Malmgren, mary Bagley, returned home from their mission in Angie Mason and Jenny Johnson, 1st Kentucky. There were six teams that competed in this track meet, although no scores were kept, if they were both the girls and the boys teams would have come up winning 1st place. I feel that spliting the events between Coach Porter and I is really working for the teams, commented Coach Partridge. We have also started practicing morning and night and I feel this will really improve our efforts, said Coach Partridge. The next track meet the team will attend will be at the North Sanpete High School on April 14th.
