Show Computers in Agriculture Vo-A- g shows a bright future Agriculture is no longer just a fanner sitting in an old tractor all day plowing the ground. There is innovative new equipment being introduced into the agricultural industry all the time. It enables farmers to keep crop information on men in balrecord, ancing the expense accounts on ranches, and genetics, where scientists keep breeding information on file. At North Sevier High the FFA is using computers to keep most of its records. Including their finance records and all of the students record books, proficiency awards and state and American Farmer Applications. This reduces the work dramatically because of the ease of correcting mistakes and improved effi ss . COMPUTERS: The computer is a big part of Vocational Agriculture and these students from North Sevier High FFA are learning the basics. It is very easy to store a great amount of information on a floppy disk instead of having many papers cluttering everything up and get- ting lost. . A farmer or rancher could pit all of his income and expense records on one disk. This year was the first year that the FFA students could put their SOEP (Supervised Occupational Experience Program) records on computer, making it easier for everyone. It makes the record books more orderly, more legible and easier to keep track of. This year Dan Wilson, Mike Anderson Wade Allred, Rusty Bas-tia- n and Travis Mickelson all put their State Fanner Record BOoks and applications on the computer for competition at the State level. Computers are going to become more important as technology takes a bigger role in agriculture. You will see more and more Agribusinessmen get computers for their operations. A special thanks to Tim Smith and Kevin Eppich who have made it possible to reserve computer time for the students in the AG Department. cattle operation meets with success FFA Report of calf crop is as follows: 2 bull calves; 2 heifer calves; 1 bull calf died at birth due to calving complications; 1 bull calf is under the supervision of the Utah Beef d.
