Show pm v w What To Do With Those Deer? Try These Venison Specials by Randa Black Daring the deer hunt have you ever wondered what to do with all that venison after your husband hauls it home? If youre like I used to be, your choices went something like this: 1. Put it in the freezer until it gets freezer burn, then throw it out. 2. Feed it to the dog. 3. Give it to the neighbors. But then I found that venison, when properly taken care of, is really delicious and a lot more tender than beef. Just be sure when you are preparing it to cut off every bit of fat. (The fat is what gives it a gamey taste.) The following recipes help turn venison into something really special. Try them and see! Stuffed Steak Rolls Serves 6 1 Vi pounds venison steak, 'A inch thick 3 slices bacon 1 dill pickle, sliced in sixths, lengthwise Vi cup flour 1 tsp. salt Vt tsp. pepper 3 tbsp. shortening A cup water Vi cut catsup 1 tsp. Melt shortening in skillet and brown steak rolls on all sides. 5. Mix water, catsup and W. sauce and pour over steak. 6. Cover and simmer slowly on top of stove 1 hour; or bake Place roast in bowl.
