Mrs. Geneva Bown and daughter, Mrs. Donna Roberts, Centerfield, visited last Sunday in Heber City with Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Alta) Coleman. Mrs. Frances Warwood spent a pleasant week with relatives in Salt Lake City. Rodney Lyon, Salt Lake City, spent several days visiting his mother, Mrs. Opal Lyon. A friend, Roy Babcock, also of Salt Lake City, visited two days while also elk hunting. Mrs. Frances Bown was honored by her daughters on her 97th birthday at an open house on Sept. 2. Mrs. Bown is the mother of four daughters and two sons, two of whom have died, Bazel and John Clair. Daughters now living are Wanda Cook, Manti; Reva Larsen, Ephraim; Cecil Watt, Spring City, and Beverly Mickelson, Gunnison. Refreshments were served. Clarence Anderson is at present remaining in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Family members report that he is holding his own. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Staley spent a few days the past week in Salt Lake City on business and pleasure. They visited with son James and wife Ila Tatton. Mrs. Erla Lund, Salt Lake City, visited with her mother, Mrs. Cloe Buchanan, for the weekend while the men folk were on the elk hunt. Mrs. Lillis Braithwaite is home after being in the Sanpete Valley Hospital for two weeks. She also spent a week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Keisel, in Richfield Lloyd before returning home. Mrs. Loa Stilson came from Orangeville to spend a few days with her son Edwin and family and with Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Parry. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Parry received word of another a brown- eyed little birl born on Sept. 28. She weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and will be named Nikole. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kim Ihler and her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Ihler and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Day. The ladies of the Manti Adult Center met last week to honor Mrs. Connie Anderson for her 86th birthday. Ladies at two tables played five hundred and the rest visited and did handwork. Mrs. Leah Funk, and Mrs. Lavilla Mickelson Mrs. Erma Olsen served ice cream and cake. Mr. and Mrs. Merwin Kjar and three children, Moroni, visited at the Lloyd Kjar home over the weekend. Rosalia and Jorgenson Lenore Lloyd, Salt Lake City, were in Manti on Wednesday of last week to visit with Mrs. Zina Henrie. Sparks spent last week visiting in Salt Lake City with Mr. and Mrs. Wendell (Carol) Anderson, a daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Carlston, Mrs. Sparks brother, and other relatives. Those coming on Sunday to attend his homecoming were the Richard Meadows family, California; Robert Loosle and Greg Newell, Provo; Patricia Schroder and Jean Bone and family, Lehi; Palauni MaSun, Salt Lake City; LaVar Frandsen, West Jordan; Karen Tully, Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson, Cache Valley. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Poulsen were Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Toadvine, Paris, Ken.; Paul Larsen, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Randy Clark and three children, Layton, and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Clark, Ogden. Mrs. Lottie Draper returned home from Utah Valley Hospital, where she underwent tests, on September 26. She returned to the hospital on September 30 for back surgery. Kim Nielson visited last week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vail Neilson. While here he went elk hunting with others of the Nielson family. Kim was one of the lucky few who not only saw an elk but actually brought one down the canyon with him. Sunday visitors at the home of Mrs. Caroline Paulsen were Mr. and Mrs. Brett Paulsen and three sons; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Paulsen and six children and Mrs. Sue Weeks, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Fern Jensen, Spring City. Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Marie) Nelson and three children, Tempe, Ariz., and Mrs. Debra Peterson and baby daughter for 95c Mrs.. Jayne Van Epps is in Mesa, Ariz., giving a helping hand at the home of her Mr. daughter and and Mrs. Jim Goodman. son-in-la- Mrs. Gladys Sparks returned to Ephraim on Saturday after spending an eventful two weeks in Salt Lake City. On August 18 she was present for the missionary farewell for a grandson, Kenneth, son of Mr. and Mrs. John (Gay) Bishoff, then accompanied him and family members to the temple on Tuesday, saw him enter the Mission Home, board the plane and embark for the Indianapolis Indiana LDS Mission. On September 25 Mrs. Sparks was present when Terry, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaRell Sparks, received his Eagle Scout award. This is Mrs. Sparks fourth grandson to be so honored. Mrs. Gay Sparks birthday anniversary was also commemorated by a dinner for several members of the family at the Ambassador Club. Mrs. Gay Bishoff and Mrs. Cheryl Sparks brought Mrs. Sparks home on Saturday. Several members of the Ivan Dyreng family congregated at the family home on Sunday. They had dinner, watched conference and enjoyed visiting until nightfall. Those who came were Mr. and Mrs. Gail Dyreng and three children, Bountiful, who is and a daughter, and Mr. the BYU; attending Mrs. Ivan Dyreng Jr. and four children and Mrs. Dyrengs father, Charles Boogant, Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris (Norma) Nelson, their son, Sid, and granddaughter, Ginnie Towt, Provo. Ferald and Macel Anderson, whose birthdays were both Mr. and Mrs. Clyde (Mary) Olsen had a delightful visit with a daughter-in-laand granddaughter, who had come from Italy. Marriet, wife of Capt. Russell Olsen, and Danna Jean came by plane to let grandparents and other relatives become acquainted with the little one who had such a precarious beginning, as she arrived in the world weighing only four pounds. She is a healthy responsive, happy, child at present. Marriet and Danna Jean spent about a week here, then planned to visit in Colorado with a sister and in the east with maternal grandparents before returning to Italy. Mrs. Dora Olsen returned to her home on October 24. She had been in Provo for one month as a patient in the hospital, and recovering at the home of a daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Simmons. Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ali Olsen were also welcomed as guests. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Beazer and family had a happy reunion with their Indian foster son and his family this week. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ranger and children, Terrel, 1j, and Shawna, 3, came from Brimhall, N.M., on Sunday. They will remain in Ephraim for several days, then visit in Ogden with Mrs. Rangers foster parents. Tom lived with the Beazers about eight years ago while they were living in Bountiful. They developed a deep attachment for him and were delighted to have him visit after a long absence. The Rangers attended the LDS Conference before coming to Ephraim and Glen J. son of Mr. and Mrs. Meade Squire, recently received a large wooden plaque containing a certificate of honorable mention from the National PTA Cultural Arts What the World Projects. Needs Now was the 1976-7- 7 project title, the certificate carries the signatures of Helen Vandermosten, chairman of the project, and Carol K. Kimmel, President of the National PTA. The award of Congress was made possible by the Lila Acheson Wallace Foundation through The Readers Digest. Earlier Glen also received a certificate of appreciation from the National PTA for his entry. This had a beginning a year ago when Glen wrote an essay on Cooperation and entered it in the Ephraim Elementary School Reflections contest.
