Holman, president of Farmers Union, this week was appointed by Governor Scott Matheson as chairman of the Agricultural AdUtah-ldah- o visory Board. The board is constituted from members of the Utah Cattle1 mens Association the Utah Woolgrowers, Utah Dairy AsFarmers sociation, Union, Utah Farm Bureau, Utah Consumers, Independent Meat Packers and the Veterinary Medicine Association. Mr. Holman stated that the board works closely with the Commissioner of Agriculture in all matters relating to agriculture. The first meeting of the new board was held at the Department of Agriculture on August 2nd at which time the board reviewed the recently passed drought Relief Bill HS.B.-7- . The bill is quite restrictive, Holman stated, in that the two million appropriated can only be used by livestock-meand only for water-relateprojects. It should have been broadened to accommodate all farmers whether livestockmen or not. The limited time of the special session was the problem everyone faced. Livestockmen, primarily cattlemen, are in the most trouble not only from drought problems, but also from several of depression-leve- l years prices. Hopefully, this bill will bring some relief to them, Holman stated.
