Pinegar, a member of the First Council of Seventy, will speak at the Manti Utah Stake Conference Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23 in Manti. Elder Pinegar, appointed to his present position October 6, 1972, received hi.s B. A. degree from Brigham Young University in psychology, then went on to get his masters degree from San Francisco State College. In 1967, he earned hi.s doctorate degree in education from the University of Southern South Sanpete School Superintendent Winston T. Gleave resigned Tuesday night. Supt. Gleave asked the school board to accept his resignation in order that he could accept a position with the Utah School Boards Association. The school board expressed regret at losing Gleave, but agreed to release him as requested. Gleave agreed to assist in finding a re- placement. Supt. Gleave has been associated with the South Sanpete School District for the past ten years. He came to the district from Piute School District where he had been empoyed as principal of Piute High School. Before becoming an administrator in Piute he was involved with teaching in the Iron County School Dis- School District in July of 1969. While serving as Superintendent of South Sanpete he trict. existent school funds. He has been an avid spokesman for small schools and their relationships with the communities. Erickson photo Convocation Will Seat Snow President By Bruce Jennings The investiture of Dr. J. Marvin Higbee as president of Snow College will feature an inaugural convocation on March 21 at 1:30 p.m. in the college auditorium. George C. Hatch, chairman of the Utah State Board of Regents, will conduct the investiture ceremony for Dr. Higbee, the colleges 11th president. Dr. Earl V. Pullias, professor of higher education at the University of Southern California, will address the convocation and Dr. Higbee will present the inaugural ad- dress. Angus Belliston, chairman of the Snow College Institutional Council, will conduct the convocation. Salutations will be offered by Mark An- derson, Moroni, student body representing the president, students; Dr. Demont Howell, representing the faculty; Peterson, representing the staff; Darrell Warren, representing the alumni association, and Dr. G. Homer Durham, commissioner of the Utah State System for Higher Education, representing Utah colleges and universities. The prayers will be offered by Roger Hansen, superintendent of Wasatch Academy, and A. Theodore Tuttle, prominent LDS Church "officer, members of the Institutional Hil-m- er Council. The convocation will be preceded by a processional of representatives of higher education, members of govern ing boards and faculty from the Noyes Building to the audi- torium. The public is invited to and Mrs. Higbee on March 21 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. in the Lucy A. Phillips Library. Because of the limited seating available in the auditorium, an invitation to the convocation cannot be extended to the public, Roger Baker, chairman, explained. Dr. Pullias, regarded as one of the major figures in education in the United States, is not only professor of higher education at the University of Southern California but also colleges and universities and of several years North Carolina-Virgini- a Mission. Raised in a home with many foster brothers and sisters, LuDon learned early to share with other people, a trait she has continued to develop. She is known for her generosity and willingness to give of her time and talents to make others happy. the leaders in the development of Cooperative Education Programs in which the students can be placed on the job for training part of each day. He was very active in establishing the Cooperative Service Agency located at Richfield and for the past year has been chairman of this organization which is now called the Central Utah Educational Services. He strongly opposed mandatory reorganization with North Sanpete School District a proposed in the Utah Legislature and was instrumental in getting the bill defeated. Supt. Gleave expressed his desire to remain in Sanpete and his strong feeling for this area, but felt that this chance to progress could not be passed up. In his new assignment, Gleave will be working with all of the boards of education in the rural sections of Utah to improve education and educational opportunities for rural Utah. The superintendent has always enjoyed working with rural people and in rural areas and feels that he can contribute to these people through his new position. Mr. Gleave expressed concern over leaving the area because of his feeling that it is a good solid community and a fine place to raise a family. He said that he has enjoyed working with this local board of education and feels they are some of the finest people he could ever have the privilege of working with. Board members donate a great deal of their free time and personal expense to improve the educational quality of schools for students in this area and he stated that he very much appreciated their contributions.
