The e court had been summoned to eele brate the eighteenth birthday of King Neptune’s daughter Princess Oceana The coral palace was lighted With sparks from the electrical eels Ladles of the court had been sent to the ' royal gardens to gather sea anemone and ferns The palace and grounds' had been transformed with lovely flowers draped'over the rainbow-colore- d coral walls The kitchen was filled with cooks 'toiling and brewing favorite dishes of the princess While upstairs the subject of all this commotion was ' gazing from her window to the rock gardens below Xhe little mermaid’s mother had presented her with a crown of gleam-in- g lustrous pearls pink white and salmon colored As the little princess - Moreen had always wanted to go fishing with her father but had never yet been taken — Mr Gordon hesitated a minute anil then said to MrS Gordon “Pack tipT a little lunch and we’ll go" Moreen danced up and down with joy She grabbed her liptlet blue jacket and ran out to the car Soon they werd all ’ready and on their way Up the mountain road they spun Soonthey were brtha canyon There they found a guide to show them along the stream while they fished They all got out of the car and Mr Gordon took his long pole and began to fish For aome time Moreen sat with her mother watching her father fish Then she jumped up ran to the car and got from it another fishing pole her father had brought' along She put some bait on it as she had seen her father do and started down the stream She- threw the heavy line In as best she could and sat down to wait As Moreen sat gazing at the water ahe felt a tugging at her line It pulled harder and harder Moreen gave a tug at the line to pull it out but it would not cotqe The fish on the line jerked so bard that Moreen tumbled head over heels into the stream Under went her head!
