Riders on base will stage at 11 a.m. at the motorcycle safety range near the South Gate for the ride through the base and surrounding communities. Any civilian employees wishing to participate in the See Me Save Me Ride will need to be in a non-duty or approved leave status. Volunteers needed for July 24 parade Twenty military members will be needed to carry a giant flag in the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade on July 24. Lane restrictions on Wardleigh Road Beginning Thursday, July 15, until Aug. 15 Wardleigh Road will experience lane restrictions to allow manhole access for workers. One eastbound lane will close from Building 849 to Building 847 and one northbound lane at Building 1205. The lane will be closed about 500 feet between manholes. The closure is needed to ensure the safety of workers. Any questions concerning construction should be directed to Gerard Babauta at (801) 7771696. ill Chapel to formally reopen its doors July 16 BY MARY LOU GORNY Hilltop Times editor T he completion of a long awaited renovation will be formally celebrated Friday, July 16, at the Hill Chapel with the Air Force Deputy Chief of Chaplains, Chaplain (Brig. Gen.) David H. Cyr, speaking at the chapel's rededication ceremony. Partially funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, President Barack Obama's stimulus plan, the renovations will bring seating capacity to more than 480. Additional funding was provided through Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization funds from a Department of Defense program dealing with real property due to challenges to meet federal Anti-Terrorism Force Protection, or ATFP, standards. "We are excited to move in," said Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Kenneth Crooks, 75th Air Base Wing and Team Hill chaplain of the $1.4 million project. "We want it to be a central point of the community where the community can gather for sacred events." Chapel is preparing fora rededication ceremony to be held Friday, July 16, at 3 p.m., after the addition of 1,500 square feet, new paneling and trim, wood pews and a baptismal font. Other significant additions include a bride's room, a lighting system and energy saving features. 34th FS to inactivate Energy officials say such campaigns will likely be repeated , Airman and Family Readiness training The Airman and Family Readiness Center will provide limited service July 28-30 due to staff training. Only emergency situations will be accepted during that time. The Airmen's Attic will be open during its normal hours. The pre-deployment briefing scheduled for July 28 has been rescheduled for July 26 at 8:30 am. Reintegration briefings will remain the same. For questions call the center at (801)777-4681. July 24-25 hot water out in many buildings The annual steam outage will be July 24-25, meaning there will be no hot water in several buildings. The outage will be from midnight to midnight. The facilities to be affected include: Buildings 244,245,250,252, 345,348,349,350, 351,357,358, 361,363,364,430,441,445,450, 460,475,517,518,519,520,521, 523,525 and 534. The squadron will inactivate as part of the CAF Redux restructuring plan on July 16. A look back as fighter squadron prepares to shut down as a unit BY AARON CLARK 388th Fighter Wing historian A local fighter squadron with an extremely rich and far-reaching history will inactivate this week due to the Combat Air Forces restructuring plan (CAF Redux). In a move to fund a smaller and more capable force^ as well as redistribute people for higher priority missions, the CAF Redux restructuring plan will accelerate the retirement of 250 aircraft, which includes 112 F-15 Eagles, 134 F-16 Fighting Falcons and three A-10 Thunder- bolts Us. On July 16, the 34th Fighter Squadron "Rams," assigned to the 388th Fighter Wing, will inactivate in keeping with this global plan. Throughout military history, numerical information has always played a large role in the culture and the measurement of success pertaining to a* variety of events. This being the case, the 34th FS has quite the collection of numbers to boast of its successful and long life in serving this country.
