Col Victor Wager, director of Aviation Customer Operations opened the summit here in the Lotts Conference Center. "Getting people moved forward has been a long journey that we have worked hard," said Wager. "It started 18 months ago under (Navy) Rear Adm. Mark Heinrich (former DSCR commander). He told me to 'move them forward; get in the customer's backyard.'" DSCR's forward presence support team at Hill Air Force Base is part of the movement, working now alongside DLA Ogden employees to support the mechanics performing depot-level aircraft maintenance. To better serve their Air Force customers, the team traveled to the summit to gain an awareness of new business tools, of Aviation Customer Operations' core business processes and of how to elevate issues to DSCR and Defense Logistics Agency. "Our primary goal is readiness," Wager said. "Get the part to our customers. We have to get out of firefighting and do more planning to get parts on the shelf." : DLA Odgen forward presence team members include: business customer! relationship manager Benita Gallegos; customer logistics site specialist Joseph West; and customer support representatives Cori Murray, Mark Bradford, and Barry Mohlman. The core processes used in Customer Operations are order fulfillment, demand planning and customer service management. Wager discussed recent DSCR and Customer Operations reorganizations as well as Customer Operations' operational metrics and how they relate to the agency's strategic metrics. "We are learning the metrics and you will learn them with us," he said. "Customer receipts are an important metric that we don't have any data on now. We need it to stop the logistics response timeclock on the perfect order fulfillment metric." Kathy Cutler, DSCR deputy commander, used the summit as an opportunity to hold a town hall with the forward deployed people. Cutler has been holding town halls with employees on center to hear their concerns. Also discussed were recent reorganizations and the commander's campaign plan, and how metrics relate to each other on the divisional and directorate levels for Aviation Customer and Supplier Operations. "By coming together during the summit, we were able to better understand the areas we need to improve to mature our forward presence organization and aviation customer operations," said Wager. "Action items focused around communication^ demand chain processes and enterprise business systems capabilities." Mesquite, Nev., celebrates 25th anniversary M ESQUITE, Nev. — The history of Mesquite, Nev., may date back to the mid 1800s, but the charming little town nestled in the rugged Virgin River Valley was not officially incorporated until May 24,1984. While the city is rich in history, it remains young-atheart and to commemorate its 25th year, the citizens of Mesquite are rolling out the red carpet to visitors, locals and veterans alike. "Mesquite's 25th anniversary is an exciting and momentous occasion," says Mayor Susan Holecheck. "We have an exceptional story to share with both locals and visitors. Now is a great time to experience the vitality of Mesquite's big-city amenities coupled with our rich history and small-town atmosphere. We are delighted to invite people to visit our city during its 25th anniversary year." From softball and golf tournaments to parades and fireworks, the city of Mesquite is planning several events throughout May to commemorate the occasion. Special room packages are also available for active and retired military personnel to celebrate Armed Forces Day Weekend, May 14-17. The weekend will kick off with a golf and Bunko tournament and culminate with a special cocktail reception and fireworks display. Following are just a few of the events planned in Mesquite for May: • Thursday, April 30-Saturday, May 2: 25th Anniversary Poker Tournament in the Virgin River Poker Room • Saturday, May 2: Mesquite Days Parade on Mesquite Boulevard Also that day: Sun City Mesquite Del Webb Meet and Greet BBQ at the Recreation Center Park • Tuesday, May 5: The MRA Cinco De Mayo Cel- The acting is superb, but it feels like the stage play from which it is born.
