Show 8 HILLTOP TIMES TIMES January 15, 2009 Codi Jordan Band to be on stage at Club Hill BY LEE ANNE HENSLEY Hilltop Times staff T omorrow night, Club Hill will host a local band that is on its way to the mainstream music scene. The Codi Jordan Band will infuse their musical blend of reggae, pop, folk and hip-hop music at Club Hill the evening of Jan. 16. The band was asked to play at Club Hill after they received positive feedback from Club Hill patrons when Club Hill played the band's new CD for a few days. "We are honored to be able to play for the men and women who defend this great country, as well as the hard-working civilians," says Codi Jordan, who fills multiple roles as the band's lead singer, guitar player and song writer. "This is really something exciting and different for us." Although most of the band members have a family member serving in the military, this will be the band's first gig playing on a military installation. "We hope to do many more (military gigs)," Jordan said. "We want to do our part by giving back to the military and giving them a 'musical vacation' and relieving the day-to-day pressures of their difficult jobs." The "vacation" Jordan refers to also connotes the theme of the band's new CD, "Vacation." The name was chosen from one of the album's songs and the band felt that the name also set the tone for the CD. "The purpose of the album is to create a vacation for your mind and soul, so that maybe, for just a few minutes a day, you can get out of your head and take a little vacation," Jordan said. The band's keyboardist and backup vocalist, Derek Keith, produced the album through his Ogden-based company, DK Studios. ^ "Derek has produced or engijfigjer^dmore, than 5Q hip-hop albums^ and is an icon in the Utah music Courtesy photo The Codi Jordan Band (left to right): Cameron Hartman, lead guitarist; Chance Conger, drummer; Codi Jordan, vocalist and guitarist; Derek Keith, keyboardist; and Cameron Goldsberry, bass guitarist; have released their latest album, "Vacation," and are set to offer up their mix of reggae, pop, folk and hip-hop on Jan. 16 at Club Hill.
