In addition to honoring more than 50 years of Reserve history, the event marked a milestone fpr the 419 FW as wing pilots and maintainers recently embarked on uncharted territory and began fixing and flying F-16s alongside their counterparts in the base's active duty 388th Fighter Wing. The transition is part of the Air Force Total Force Integration initiative to increase combat capability by joining like units in the active, Reserve and Air National Guard. Reserve pilots and crew chiefs started working hand-inhand with their active duty counterparts in May as the 419 FW's fleet of aircraft began transferring to other Reserve and Guard units. The last 419 FW F-16 will depart later this month. In the fighter community, F-16s are known as "Vipers" which led to the event being dubbed "Viper Out." Hill AFB's fighter wings have been moving toward the integration for more than a year and will be the Air Force test case for future fighter associate programs. Chapel services The Hill Air Force Base Chapel will not be holding any Protestant or Catholic services on Hill Air Force Base Sunday. Instead, everyone is invited to attend a 12:15 p.m. Catholic Mass and 1 p.m. Protestant service at Wolf Mountain during the Air Expeditionary Force Retreat Program. Temporary West Gate hours Hill Air Force Base's West Gate now has temporary hours and procedures in place. To help offset traffic flow created by Interstate 15 construction, the West Gate is open to all incoming traffic, including northbound interstate traffic, Mondays-Fridays, 4-8 a.m. Currently, 1-15 northbound from the West Gate to the Riverdale Road exit is down to two lanes. I15 southbound is down to two lanes from the Riverdale Road on ramp to the Roy Gate. Photo by AJe* Lloyd Brig. Gen.
