The 9 a.m. session is expected to be heavily attended, so anyone planning to attend this session should arrive early as the theater doors will be closed once maximum capacity is reached. The 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. sessions are scheduled to accommodate graveyardand swing-shift employees and usually have the lowest attendance. The commander's call is mandatory for all ALC military members, plus GS12s and above. However, everyone is encouraged to attend. "The system also ensures that sponsorship data and the visitor's information are automatically available at both visitor centers. See Base pass, 3 Airmen who can't make it home this year don't have to go without on Thanksgiving. The Hillcrest dining facility welcomes them for their annual Thanksgiving Day buffet, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. All military, retirees and their families are invited to the holiday festivities. "If there are ten people in the family - bring them," said Mike McCoy, 75th Services Division food service officer. "If family is in from out of town bring them, we would be glad to have them. If someone has a date, it's one of the few times he can bring a date." Nothing goes better with a family gathering than great food, which Mr. McCoy says the Hilicrest will have plenty of. The menu features all of the traditional Thanksgiving foods - turkey, three types of potatoes, pumpkin and pecan pie and, of course, cranberry sauce. "I ate (at the Hillcrest) last year," said Airman 1st Class Lin Thomas, a dental assistant with the 75th Dental Squadron. "Besides the food being great, it was nice to spend Thanksgiving with my Air Force family since I couldn't go home and be with my own family." For those who like more choices, there will also be ham and steamship round beef. It may not be mom's cooking, but the meal is in good hands. "If you combined all our cooks together, there is probably more than 200 years of experience — on one shift," Mr. McCoy said. "The food is Jne best you'll find in the state of Utah." . : If good company and great food is not enough, attendees will have the rare chance to be served by base leadership. Maj. Gen. Kevin Sullivan, Air Logistics Center commander, Col. Sharon Dunbar, 75th Air Base Wing commander and special out of town guest, Chief Master Sgt. Jonathan Hake, Air Force Materiel Command, command chief have all signed up to serve, Mr. McCoy said. "The Airmen are impressed to see the general serving dinner," he said. "It makes them feel good to see commanders serving them." For those without meal cards, the cost of Thanksgiving dinner at the Hillcrest can't be beat, Mr. McCoy said. It's the Department of Defense rate of $5.80. In addition to the Thanksgiving buffet, the Hillcrest will be open for breakfast from 7-11 a.m. and for dinner from 5 -7 p.m. ALC military get 4-day pass Maj. Gen. Kevin J. Sullivan, Ogden Air Logistics Center commander has granted ALC military personnel a four-day pass to be taken over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Thursday-Sunday. ;t I am pleased to grant a four-day pass to the Ogden ALC military members," said General Sullivan. "You have worked hard this past year, and your efforts have been noted. Please enjoy you time off safely and responsibly." Guidelines have been put in place for supervisors to accurately and correctly execute the four-day pass: • The pass cannot be used in conjunction with leave, successive passes, temporary duty, or in conjunction with non-duty dates exceeding the four-day special pass limitations • The pass should start after normal working hours and stop at the beginning of normal working hours on the fifth day • There are no mileage restrictions; however, members are required to return within a reasonable time in the event of an operational mission requirement • If the military member exceeds the pass period, the entire period will be chargeable as leave if they fail to return • Prior to use of this pass, supervisors/commanders should counsel all military members on Operational Risk Management principles, assess potential hazards and control risks associated with potential automobile or motorcycle travel and recreational activities • Members need to provide unit orderly rooms with their location and contact information if they travel outside the local area during the four-day pass period • For military members who must work this Thanksgiving holiday/weekend, General Sullivan requests commanders and supervisors allow them to take their four-day pass at a more convenient time • The four-day pass may be taken Thursday through Sunday, Saturday through Tuesday, or Friday through Monday • Unit orderly rooms can provide more information on the use of a four-day special pass or more detailed information may also be found in AFI36-3003,8.3 and 8.4 |
