What he does: Hill Aerospace Museum volunteer As a volunteer for the Hill Aerospace Museum, Carl Stegen demonstrates the character of a person who cares deeply for his fellow man, his community and the environment. Carl joined the museum's volunteer staff in November 2002. Since then, he has logged in more than 1,000 hours as a receptionist on Sunday and Tuesday mornings. He often fills in when the museum is shorthanded, working at the reception desk and also as a tour guide. All it takes is a phone call and he's there. Carl is conscientious in getting visitors signed in to the guest register. With a quiet and friendly demeanor, he answers their questions and guides them in the direction they wish to go. Prior to joining the museum's volunteer staff, Carl was a member of the Roy City Beautification Committee. He worked many years cleaning up vacant lots, installing sprinkling systems and so much more. He helped plant over 200 trees and 400 lilac bushes along Roy's main boulevard, then went the extra mile manning the water truck to see that they were given the best chance for survival. "Carl is a volunteer of the highest caliber, He is well liked by everyone, and is regarded as one (of many) of our exceptional volunteers" said Carol Harris, Hill Aerospace Museum volunteer coordinator.
