nation has so bravely fought for to keep it waving ever the land of the free It symbolizes a country which has won its fame through hard work and labor This wonderful flag of ours should be respected by all people If citizens of this the United States would rightfully demand the American flag to be properly mean more to used it wou them It should not be worn as a costume or used as displaying and never should be put up on stormy days Never leave it out overnight and never let it touch the ground or the water Don’t deface it in any way Always protect it and watch over it A story is told of a little foreign girl who saved the American beflag She was made fun of nacause she was not of their tionality There was to be a parade and the small child wanted to participate in its activities but the other children objected to it As the children were studying in the schoolroom the fire bell rang smoke was smelled and flames were seen There was a panic Finally when the building was cleared the little girl remembered the flag was still standing in the room She hurried back up the stairs and crawled across the floor She lay flat on her back while unfastening the flag from its attachment The flames and smoke were terrible and she felt herself choklast ing but she kept on until at her she had the flag safe in hands She threw it out the open window as that was her only chance to save it She crawled back out and was finally safe The next day she was indeed in the parade This is an example of a “True American” 'T have given you each a flag" said the scoutmaster “and I will expect you to
