(Continued from Page One) In the regular Tribune as we can make it That is it will have editorials— written by our con- tributors— a cartoon letters a column or two of spicy comment and similar material This new page will give you a new type of writing and a new type of drawing and thus will broaden your journalistic experience The best way to tell you how to write editorials columns etc is to tell you to read the regular edYou itorials in the daily Tribune will notice that an editorial is comment and interpretation of current events That is what we want too You may choose political news or sports events of importance or you may write on something nearer home — safety measures for children proper types of recreation etc In these cases however tie your editorial in with some current event to make it timely and appropriate You may try your hand at a snappy column too With this feature we shall deviate from the usual procedure and instead of always using columns by the same authors we shall use the best column of comment submitted thus getting a variety of styles and opin- torial page ions We want some real cartoons too In this you must remember that a cartoon in this sense is not a mere picture it is an interpretation of events just as the editorial is It must not only tell a story but must “point a moral” as well Study cartoons in daily newspapers and magazines to get the slant Points will be awarded as for other material Now start right in and be one of the very first to appear on this new page Recipe ® Surprise mother some night by baking this lovely cake CHOCOLATE
