Lindsay is a member of the Eden 1st Ward. She attends Brigham Young University-Idaho. Danielle Wallwork, 18, daughter of Dan and Nancy Wallwork of Huntsville, has received her Young Woman Recognition Award, which is given to young women who, through the Young Women’s program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, complete goals for personal growth, and church and community service. Danielle is a member of the Middleton LDS Ward. She attends Weber High School. Eagle Scouts Mitchell Hugh Shaum Mitchell H u g h Shaum, 16, of Troop 31, Eden 1st LDS Ward has earned the rank of Eagle S c o u t . Shaum is the son of Hugh and Teresa Shaum of Eden. He attends Weber High School. Anniversaries Mary and David White David J. and Mary M. White of Ogden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a private family dinner. They were married April 2, 1954, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Ilion, N.Y. in 1919. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was employed as a brakeman with the Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1990 after 40 years of service. His interests include reading, gardening, and leathercraft. She was born in her grandfather’s house in Liberty in 1922. Throughout her life she has worked for several bakeries in the Ogden area. Her interests include cooking, for which she has won scores of ribbons for her home canning and preserving in the Utah State and Weber County fairs. David and Mary have seven children: DeAnn Daniels Brown Whiteley (deceased); Thomas Dee Daniels Brown, Pocatello, Idaho; Barbara Daniels Brown Cower, Ogden; Joel Daniels Brown (deceased); Nancy White Beals, LaConner, Washington; Warren W. White, Anacortes, Washington; and Michael J. White, Ogden. They have 18 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Captain Dave Woods is currently serving as the Deputy Director Combined Forces Air Component Commander Central Command at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Commander Woods was raised in Eden, Utah. Graduating from Weber High School, he went on to the U.S. Naval Academy graduating in 1981. He then proceeded to flight school at NAS Pensacola and earned his wings in April of 1983. In 1997, he graduated from the naval War College with a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. During his 18 year naval career, commander Woods has completed numerous deployments, including supporting Operation DESERT STORM aboard the USS NIMITZ. He has received numerous decorations and awards, including the Vice Admiral John Perry Award for Excellence in Electronic Warfare. He has logged over 2,600 flight hours, and has made more than 600 carrier arrested landings. Obituaries Maxine (Peggy) Dixon Shaw Maxine (Peggy) Dixon Shaw, 80, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, March 23, 2004, surrounded by her family. Peggy was born January 28, 1924, in Winterquarters, Utah, a daughter of Richard S. and Vivian Davis Dixon. She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1942. She married Gilbert R. Shaw on December 31, 1943 in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 22, 1961. Peggy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary Presidency and as a Primary teacher as well as other church responsibilities for over 40 years. Peggy worked with and taught students with severe disabilities for 18 years, which she dearly loved. Mom was an avid Weber State University sports enthusiast, she loved her gardens, canning, the family trips to Yellowstone, and loved the movies. She had an unending sense of humor, she was witty and had a loving, playful manner. Mom raised five sons that she was extremely proud of. Her love and compassion for all who knew her will be missed. Peggy is survived by her husband Gilbert R. of Ogden and their four sons, Michael, Eden; Norman (Barbara), Ogden; Kelly (Marty), Salt Lake City; Don (Susan), Ogden. 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mom is also survived by one sister Virginia Boyd, Ogden; one sister-in-law Laura Dixon, Ogden. Mom was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Keith Dixon; and a son Keith R. Shaw. Funeral services were held Saturday, March, 27, 2004 in Ogden. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses and staff of the McKay-Dee Hospital, and IHC Hospice for their loving care of Peggy. E-mail the family at larkinmortuary@csolutions.net. Coy S. Visser LIBERTY - Coy S. Visser, 67, died Friday, March 26, 2004 in Ogden. Coy was born March 29, 1936 in Wellsville to Emerson T. and Mary Longstroth Smith and was raised in Wellsville. She later moved to Ogden and attended Ogden High School where she graduated in 1954. She was married to Vic Taylor from 1954 to 1956, married to Bill Odekirk from 1956 to 1981, and was together with Lynn T. Visser for 23 years. They were married October 3, 1999, and were sealed in the LDS temple on October 19, 2002. Coy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as Sunday School Secretary among other callings. She loved to go to the temple and to do sealings.
