Rendering of the proposed entrance to the playground area. Two years ago a plan, which outlined and illustrated long term goals for the park, was formulated by park committee members, and presented to the Huntsville Town Council and the local citizenry. Most of those goals have been accomplished, including: Completion of the east and west bowery The near completion of the outdoor theater Development of a new tennis court Creation and installation of a sand volleyball court Creation and installation of basketball courts Creation of the historical monument area with seating and pathways The addition of a playground/discovery area for smaller children will completes two of the three remaining items on the park’s master plan. Members of the park committee have worked with four different playground supply companies on designs for the playground area, and have arrived at a design solution that they think will meet the community’s objectives for the project. The playground equipment has been ordered and committee members hope to have it installed in the park sometime this summer. Huntsville Park chairman Steve Songer stated, “The ‘Kid Space’ playground will become an important and integral part of our park. It must be noted that the playground, An aerial view of the proposed new playground for Huntsville park. as well as all other improvements, could not have been accomplished without generous donations from local citizens and businesses; and the, literally, thousands of volunteer hours that have been donated by hundreds of individuals.” The park committee is in the process of raising $60,000 for the purchase of the playground equipment and its related improvement costs. If you would like to contribute to the playground equipment fund, send your donation to: HUNTSVILLE TOWN PARK FUND 7309 E 200 S HUNTSVILLE UT 84317 If you have any comments or questions concerning the “Kid Space” project, contact Huntsville Park chairman Steve Songer at 745-3826.
