There are many more. In addition to the breathtaking scenery surrounding downtown Ogden—Majestic mountains to the north and east, and breathtaking sunsets to the west—Ogden provides visitors with numerous nearby recreational opportunities—biking, hiking, boating, skiing, and camping, to name only a few. Ogden has 38 formal parks on approximately 233 acres, 11 soccer fields, 11 basketball courts, 21 tennis courts, 24 playgrounds, and 32 picnic shelters. They also have two golf courses—El Monte with 9 holes on 80 acres; and Mount Ogden with 18 holes on 140 acres. Downtown Ogden also has excellent conference amenities, available in area hotels, and the David Eccles Conference Center, which utilizes nearly 70,000 sq. ft. Lindquist Field is Ogden City’s baseball field with a seating capacity of 3000, and proposed expansion to seat 5000. The newly constructed field is home to the Ogden City Raptors baseball team. The Ogden River parkway has 3.1 miles of improved trail from Washington Boulevard tot eh mouth of Ogden Canyon, with six additional miles proposed. The expanded path will go from Washington Blvd. to Wall Avenue, between 18th and 20th Streets. New housing and commercial development will be constructed along the pathway route, and in water resources will also be developed, including kayaking and fly-fishing. The project will cover approximately 60 acres. Browning Theater, Myra Powell Gallery, Natural History Museum, and the Spencer S. and Hope F. Eccles Railroad Center. Ogden Dinosaur Museum houses dramatic and hands on exhibits from, not only Utah, but from around the world. It includes a visible working laboratory for the preparation of dinosaur bones.
