Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 8 Volume VII Issue IV December 1, 2002 First Annual Make a Difference – Pumpkin Patch Party Hats off to the community of “Liberty” for your participation in the 1st Annual “Make a Difference Day” “Pumpkin Patch Party.” Make a Difference Day was established to invite more volunteers to serve their community. On Saturday, October 26 you did just that. Starting at 9:00 a.m. there were volunteers helping the Fellowship Bible Church with some landscaping work, then at 11:00 a.m. volunteers met at Liberty Park to pick up the trash and debris around the park and the arena. Then each participant donated a can of food to the Ogden Food bank. After the chores, they had some fun visiting, and getting to know each other. Starting with a hayride through Mr. Bishop’s field, to a party of pumpkin carving, face painting and eating . . . all for free! The “Pumpkin Patch Party” was an idea began three years ago by Eugene and Ruth Bailey of Liberty for the young kids in their church. Jeanne Atkinson, Shelley and Richard Smyka loved it so much, they wanted to use the idea and make a community party of it, and help others at the same time. Everyone in the community is invited to participate every October on the national “Make a Difference Day,” which is held usually the last Saturday in October before Halloween. We hope to see you next year! 2nd Annual Fall Festival Held in Huntsville The 2nd Annual Fall Festival, sponsored by the Ogden Valley Community Church in Huntsville, was held on Halloween night. Even though the weather was chilly and it was a night for “Trick or Treaters,” about 80 children and adults turned out for some good, old-fashioned fun and games. The festival was held to celebrate and give thanks for the harvest, and to prepare for Thanksgiving. Games included football and baseball toss, scarecrow throw beanbags, clinking the pots and pans, and musical chairs. Squirt the toilet paper was a real hit. There was a lot of good food to eat as well. People joined in Painting an “Art from the Heart” mural at the Fall Festival spon- painting an “Art from the Heart” mural.
