Repairs on I-15 will Cause Delays through September Letters to the Editor To My Son-in-Law With Love I must be the envy of all female residents of Ogden Valley age 70 and over (if there are many of us out there), to have a son-in-law who loves me SO much that he would take the time to have my picture and an announcement of my birthday printed in the Ogden Valley News! Notwithstanding the fact that this is the ONLY announcement of the celebration of a 70th birthday that I have ever seen published in a newspaper, he did take the time to let everyone know that my life consists of playing at Lake Powell, skydiving, watching soap operas or reading the Enquirer! I was a little concerned that he left out the fact that I am a “professional go-to-lunch person,” and in between all of this, do find a few hours each week to spend at my offices at Wolf Lodge and Remax. Watch your back, Lamar Bott - - payback time is near! Fondly, Lu Skinner Eden Road repair work on Interstate 15 from 31st Street in Ogden to 450 North in Marriott-Slaterville began on July 8. According to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), this 3.5 mile stretch of interstate highway will allow only one lane in each direction, 24 hours per day, through the end of September. Motorists can expect up to 10 miles of backing and hour-long delays. UDOT officials encourage motorists to avoid the area, if at all possible, or carpool, leave early and allow extra travel time. Suggested alternate routes include Washington Boulevard (US-89) and Harrison Boulevard (SR-203). UDOT advises motorists entering southbound I-15 in the Ogden area to use Riverdale Road and Exit 342 in Riverdale. Those entering northbound I-15 should use 2700 North and Exit 352 in Farr West. Originally constructed in the late 1960’s, this roadway will greatly benefit from the planned improvements. The project includes safety enhance- ments, shoulder reconstruction and necessary bridge repair. Additionally, shoulder reconstruction will help to accommodate a complete reconstruction and widening of I-15 along this stretch of road within the next 10 years. UDOT is working with Granite Construction Company, the project’s contractor, to minimize motorist impacts. Granite will work an extended schedule seven days per week with incentives to complete the project ahead of schedule. Disincentives apply should they finish behind schedule. For more information on this project, please contact Andy Neff, UDOT Region One Public Involvement Coordinator, at (801) 620-1641 or email at aneff@dot.state.ut.us Inspirational Thought “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” -Author Unknown Corrections Invitation for Articles The staff of The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS welcomes the submission of articles by our readership.
