Part of the expansion also includes plans for a new pharmacy that will be housed in the market. Currently the store has 8,500 square feet of floor space, which will be expanded to 17,200 square feet. Terry says that customers can look forward to a whole new interior design. The deli and bakery will expand, the frozen food department will be enlarged by about four times its current size, and the dairy and meat department will double in size. In November of 1999, Terry also bought the property with plans to expand the business. The Valley Market supports about 31 employees—many local students who fill part-time positions. That number will increase with the expansion. Terry states that his philosophy in the business has always been to gear his services toward the local community. Any business from tourists is just an added bonus. Terry also stated he is appreciative of the support the community has given the store since he took over ownership. Expansion of the store is scheduled to begin the first part of May, 2001. Huntsville, Utah - Over $20,000 was raised at a reception for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation on Thursday, February 22, 2001 at the Ski Lake home of Ron and Lisa Catanzaro. This was the first annual fundraiser to benefit both the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation and the Snowbasin Ski Education Foundation. The party was in conjunction with the highly anticipated Olympic test event, The Men’s Downhill and Super G World Cup at Snowbasin. Many of the athletes competing at the World Cup were in attendance along with executives of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. The athletes included World Champion Daren Rahlves, Chad Fleischer, Jakub Fiala, Scott Macartney, Chris Puckett, and Marco Sullivan. Also present were Bill Marolt, President and CEO of the USSA, and Bill Eagan the Men’s Downhill coach. Members of the Snowbasin Alpine Team greeted guests as they arrived. Bill Marolt, Bill Eagan and each of the athletes thanked everyone for supporting the team in this crucial year prior to the Olympics. After their presentation, the athletes mingled with the guests and posed for photos and signed autographs for the young racers. Over $3500 was raised in the silent auction alone. Auction items included Solomon skis, men’s and women’s Spyder ski outfits, autographed limited edition prints of Picabo Street and Jonny Mosley, Reebok apparel packages, items signed by World Champion Daren Rahlves, and weekend getaways. The Presenting Sponsor for the event was Ski Lake Corporation. Gold Sponsors included Iomega Corporation, and Descente.
