Letters to the Editor Student Reminds Valley Residents to Observe Traffic Laws Up here in the Valley things are getting pretty busy. More houses are going in and more people are moving in them. But we all need to remember that there are many kids that live up here. So here are some things that might be happening around your neighborhood. Did you know that on one day, only three out of 18 people stopped at the stop sign at the corner of Creek View Drive and Patio Springs! And now there are more than 21 children living between the two stop signs at Willow Creek and Patio Springs. So please remember to drive slowly when you see people at play. Kimber Brady Eden 7th grade student Resident Hopes History will be Turned Over to Library My husband and I were gone when John (Jack) Newey passed away. I enjoyed reading his obituary in your paper as well as in the StandardExaminer. I was appointed Town Clerk in 1962 while Jack was mayor. Our town at the time had a copy of the book “Memories of Huntsville and Its People” written by a former mayor, D.D. McKay, and a photograph of Jefferson Hunt for whom our town is named. As far as I could tell, this was the extent of Huntsville history in print and photographs. I asked Jack if I could start a scrapbook of historical information of our area and he gave me permission. I give Jack credit for the start of our large collection of history. In addition to him, five following mayors gave their support to the history collection, not only of our town, but also of Eden, Liberty, Ogden Canyon and Ogden Valley. We have always hoped the history would be turned over to the Ogden Valley Library Branch to be accessible to everyone interested. We were told it would be. Someday maybe it will. cient for an emergency vehicle to find in a hurry. To have an emergency response vehicle running up and down the street looking for an address is counter-productive when time is of the essence. Let’s all take a good look at our house identification, see if it is in an obvious location, and whether or not it would be in plain view both day and night. After all, the life you save by doing so may well be your own. Erma Wilson Huntsville PTSA Says Thanks The Life You Save On behalf of Snowcrest PTSA I would like to thank everyone who came to our carnival, it was a big success! Thank you to all of you who helped at the carnival especially Nancy King who was in charge of the carnival and Linda Gillespie who was in charge of the spook alley. You are all wonderful. We would also like to thank the following companies and individuals for their donations, Eden Park Bowery, Maverick, Southfork Chevron, Valley Market, Calvin Welling, Jim and Danette Stuart, Ron Stokes, and Ad Craft Signs Inc. Thank you all for your support. Heart attacks, stroke, choking, slip and fall accidents, severe burns, cuts, fire, breaking and entering; what have these in common? Each can occur to people of any age at any location— especially in the home. One of the critical factors which can mean the difference between life and death is how soon medical or police assistance becomes available. Minutes count! The sooner help gets to your door, the better are the chances of surviving the incident or reducing the residual effects. One thing which each of us can do to ensure minimal response time by emergency units is to see to it that our houses are properly and prominently identified by number in a location which would be obvious both day and night. While some of us may have numbers that are cute and fancy or aesthetically pleasing, they are not suffi- Invitation for Articles The staff of The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS welcomes the submission of articles by our readership.
