Show Page 4 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume II, Issue XIII 1 July 2000 Sunshine Generation Offers Classes at the Old Fire House Child Care There was singing and dancing and a whole lot of fun happening at the Ogden Valley Library on May 24 and June 14. After weeks of rehearsals, the Sunshine Generation performing group put on a great show. The kids did a wonderful job. The Sunshine Generation offers boys and girls, two years to teens, a program that teaches performance techniques and skills for success by stressing six areas of development: Singing, dance, vocal training, music theory, showmanship and, most importantly, self-esteem. The Sunshine Generation concept came to life in 1979 when Nancie Nalder was looking for a program that would teach her own children “total showmanship” and give them the selfconfidence they would need to succeed in life. The Sunshine Generation believes all children have talents that can be developed, and that a child’s self-esteem grows as they realize that they have something wholesome and worthwhile to contribute. These skills will serve them for a lifetime. Shelly Jo Wahlstrom presently teaches these classes at Old Fire House Child Care in Eden. In addition to the regular classes, Sunshine Generation will be offering a Surfin’ Sunshine Fun Week on July 25 – 28. Regular classes will begin again after Labor Day. Look for another performance Friday, July 28 at Old Fire House Child Care. Come and enjoy. Sunshine Generation kids having fun performing.
