He will speak November 20 at the North Fork Ward, 2479 N. 3300 E. in Liberty at 2:50 p.m. Elder Belnap is the son of Brian and Karen Belnap of Liberty. Pictured left is Edler Michael Brian Belnap. Births Kassie and Joseph Mehelic of Liberty had a baby girl on August 28, 2011. Ty and W e s l e y Hamilton were born September 26, 2011 to Lisa Pratt Hamilton and John Hamilton. Ty weighed 6 lbs. Ty and Wesley Hamilton 10 ounces and was 19 inches long. Wesley weighed 6 lbs. 4 ounces and was also 19 inches long. Grandparents of the twins are Kevin and Cindy Pratt of Liberty, Utah and Cindi Hamilton of Greenfield, Indiana. Jenny and Taylor Hansen of Eden had a baby girl on October 7, 2011. Tara and Weston Whitley of Huntsville had a baby boy on October 5, 2011. Annalise Rose Ackal was born October 18, 2011, in Houston, Texas to parents Mitch and Shannon Ackal. She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Walt and Lisa Fuller of Huntsville are Annalise Ackal the proud grandparents. Brianne and Jonathon Bingham of Farmington had a baby boy, Lincoln Ross Bingham, on October 26, 2011. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 ounces and was 21 inches in length. Lincoln Ross is the grandson of Jon and Debra Fuller Bingham of Eden, and Jack and Nancy Fahnestock of Eagle, Idaho. Wedding Pullen Thurston Taylor Pullen and Travis Thurston were married in the Chapel at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Two receptions were held in their honor. The first reception was held that evening in Nevada. Taylor & Travis Thurston Henderson, The next was held in Mountain Green, Utah on Saturday, October 15. Taylor is the daughter of Dave Pullen of Boulder City, Nevada and Lynn and Toni Visser of Liberty, Utah. She is a graduate of Weber High School and Marinello College of Cosmetology. She is currently employed at IFA in Ogden and Salon and Spa Fifth Avenue in Layton. Travis is the son of Kevin and Tracy Thurston of Morgan, Utah. Travis is a graduate of Morgan High School, Weber State University, and DATC. He is currently employed at IT Integrated Structures in Salt Lake City as a composite technician. After a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, the happy couple settled in their new home in Roy, Utah. Congratulations to the newlyweds; we wish them the best! Young Womanhood Recognition Award Liberty Youth Earn Young Womanhood Recognition Award Alexis Argyle Kaitlynn Bastow The following young women from the Liberty 1st Ward recently received their Young Womanhood Recognition Award. All are students at Weber High School. The Young Womanhood Recognition Award is given to young women who, through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Young Women’s program, complete various projects for personal growth, and church and community service. Air TighT OuTside COnTAiners Two Convenient Locations Joyce Montgomery Joyce Ferrell Montgomery of Huntsville celebrated her 80th birthday with her family at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant on November 5, 2011. The third of four children, Joyce was born November 5, 1931 to Marjorie and John W. Ferrell in Salt Lake City. Joyce Montgomery She grew up in Huntsville and graduated from Weber High School. She attended Weber State College and worked for the civil service commission. In 1953 she married Norman J. Montgomery in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple by LDS President David O. McKay. She is active in her church, community, and continues to share her musical talents with family and friends. Her children and their spouses are Ron and Jeanie Montgomery, Julie and John Lund, Linda and David Knowles, and Larry and Denise Montgomery, all of Huntsville. She has 11 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. LaVoie Quist LaVoie Quist of Huntsville recently celebrated her 80th birthday. Family and friends attended an open house in her honor on Friday, November 11 at the Huntsville LDS Stake Center, located at 6450 E. 1900 N. in Eden She was born LaVoie Quist November 2, 1931 in Wellsville to Elton E. and Velma Leishman Ozmun. Her siblings are LuJean Bouwhuis (deceased), Duane Ozmun (deceased), and Sherral Thurgood. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1949. She married S. Ivan Quist on April 12, 1949 in Ogden. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple. She has enjoyed the role of wife and mother. She has belonged to various organizations throughout the years, has held numerous callings in the LDS Church, and worked in the Ogden LDS Temple for several years. She and her husband served in the Gowanda LDS Mission from 1994 to 1995. Her hobbies include service, family, travel, gardening, reading, embroidery and art. Her children and their spouses are Farley and Judy Quist, Debbie and Allen Melle, Jeanette and Mark Goodson, Rob and Heather Quist, Jeff and Shannon Quist, and Helena and Rich Carpellatti. She has 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Rex Thompson Rex Wells Thompson of West Haven recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Family and friends attended an open house in his honor on November 12, 2011 at the Harrisville Cabin, 725 W. Harrisville Road. Born November 14, 1931 to Wells and Elva Rex Thompson Thompson in Ogden, he spent most of his life in Huntsville. He married LuJean McBride on September 12, 1951 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They raised their family in Huntsville until moving to West Haven 33 years ago. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before she died in December 2001. He enjoyed serving his community. He graduated from Weber High School and held many jobs. He also worked for Meadow Gold, Farr’s Ice Cream, and retired from Mountain Fuel after 35 years. He enjoys camping, snowmobiling, spending hours in the saddle hunting, Weber State football games, growing tomatoes, delivering homemade banana bread, and the laughter heard throughout the house while spending time with family. He also enjoys discovering new hobbies and making Christmas gifts for family. Active in the LDS Church, he served in many capacities, including ward clerk in Huntsville and as a home teacher. He now serves in the Sunday School presidency. He and his wife enjoyed serving on the activity committee. His children and their spouses are Debbie and Greg (deceased) Rhodes, Pam and Rob Higginson, Owen and Lisa Thompson, and Justin and Rachel Thompson. He has 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Obituaries Norma Allred Shaw Our sweet mom passed away October 26, 2011 at the Family Tree Assisted Living in Morgan. She was born October 5, 1924 to Juston Peter and Isabell Robinson Allred in Norma Shaw Osgood, Idaho. She grew up in Osgood, graduating from Ammon High School in Idaho Falls. After graduation, her family moved to Utah, settling in Liberty where she met her husband Vernon J. Shaw. They were married October 24, 1943 in Harrisville, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in the Ogden area for the first years of their marriage, subsequently buying the family farm in Liberty, Utah. In 1960 they purchased a farm in Morgan, Utah where the family resided for 35 years. They spent their last years together in Roy, Utah. Mom was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She enjoyed nothing more than helping with roadshows in the Liberty Ward. She loved her role as homemaker but also helped out on the farm when needed. Mom and Dad taught their children the value of hard work, but they also made sure there was time to spend with family and friends. She was always willing to accompany Dad wherever his horse racing took him. In later years, they traveled in their motorhome, spending the winters in St. George with friends, golfing, and enjoying life. She is survived by her five children: Kathryn Le (Douglas) Seamons, Ogden; Jeffrey Lyn (Rosanne), Bountiful; Patricia Dawn Hodgson, Ogden; Pamela (John) Atwood, Morgan; and Bradley Vernon (Cindy), Morgan. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Grant Allred, Gale Allred, and Mark Allred; and three brothers-in-law, Gilbert Shaw, Richard Shaw, and Wayne Carpenter. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, one brother, and a grandson. As a family, we express our heartfelt thanks to Wendy Butters, granddaughter; Carol Ann Ferlin; Thatcher Brook Hospice; and the entire staff at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan, who took such loving care of our mom. Funeral services were held at Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Interment, Liberty City Cemetery.
