Fivestar resort spa—Spa Witz—opens in Eden Elizabeth Bingham Scadden says that being a massage therapist and master esthetician has always been one of the best parts of her life. “I feel very much fulfilled in my life by helping others through massage and facials. Stress can take us over at times, and I enjoy bringing my friends and neighbors back to a calm, comfortable place. “I recently moved to Eden and married Davey Scadden (of Eden). Together we purchased a new home in Patio Springs. While I’m excited for all the new happenings in my life, I’m especially so to have built out our basement where I have now opened my very own spa— Spa Witz! It’s a beautiful luxury spa—right here in Eden’s back yard!” Scadden says this journey all started when she was 19 year old and received her very first massage. “It was so exciting. I had received a gift card from my mother and got a massage. It was going to be the best day ever! I arrived to the location and the woman checking me in was also the massage therapist. She gave me a sheet of paper to fill out that asked me to mark the areas I wanted her to focus on and also the areas not to work on. It also asked if I had any injuries or areas of concern. I was glad to write down my thoughts and feelings so I could enjoy my 60 minutes of pure pleasure. “After filling out my sheet, getting undressed in the massage room and getting up on the nice table, I was smiling ear to ear. My therapist came into the room and proceeded to get me to take deep breaths and try to relax; however, there were many things that happened in that hour that kept me from relaxing or even letting go of my body. I was massaged in areas I asked to not be, and I was given a very deep pressure massage. The room had a cold, tiled floor and the therapist wore boots. It was loud, the massage too deep, and I was left with a very invasive feeling. Needless to say, the experience wasn’t relaxing. I was unsatisfied with my care. “After getting that massage, I went home and really thought about why that treatment wasn’t relaxing? What was wrong with my expectations? Why didn’t I get the massage I wanted? I could do massage. Would I follow all the little details to make a massage amazing? “I thought about it a lot, and I realized that, yes, I could do massage therapy. I would listen to my clients. I would create a relaxing environment. I could really be great at this. “I graduated from UCMT (Utah College of Massage Therapy) in 2004 then worked for Sego Lily Spa in Midvale, Utah for eight years. I also worked in Hawaii for a year then returned to Utah to work for The Grand America, Sego Lily, and Hotel Park City. I am currently working, and have been for the past seven years, for Montage Deer Valley. I have been their Lead Massage Therapist for the last two years. I have learned so much, so now feel I’m ready for my own business. “Working at Montage Deer Valley is very rewarding. I have loved the clients and friends that I have made here; however, what Montage cannot offer is the ability to help a friend in need and watch progress with treatments. While Montage is a beautiful hotel, unfortunately, its guests leave and go home—even though I long to help these clients achieve and maintain their goals. That’s why I am so excited about owning Spa Witz; I will be able to see the change in my clients and keep those rewarding relationships with them year round. “I am certified in Thai Massage, Hot Stone, Reflexology, Hydrotherapy, Thalassotherapy, Connective Tissue massage, Pre-Natal massage, Aromatherapy, and Watsu. I specialize in MLD, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, which is a very gentle rhythmic massage used to increase fluid movement in the body. It is perfect for postsurgery, injury, and any swelling in the body. I plan to devote the majority of my practice to this as it helps over 60 different ailments and conditions—including migraine and chronic headaches, common acne and acne rosacea, constipation, eczema, tinnitus, Ménière’s, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid and osteo arthritis, sinus congestion and chronic catarrh, tendonitis, repetitive strain injury, whiplash and other trauma—to name a few. It can also be used to improve scar tissue and to reduce bruising after surgery or injury. It is an excellent therapy for rejuvenation as a beauty treatment and can reduce puffiness and fine lines and wrinkles. This is why I have spent so much of my practice learning and developing this skill set. It’s truly an amazing experience! “I want to bring my five-star, five-diamond treatments to our Eden, and broader Ogden Valley community. I love what I do, and my clients tell me it shows. I am excited to work with my neighbors, friends, and family in a space that is calm, quiet, and completely taken care of by myself. My business is all about providing treatments that are backed by knowledge and powered by love. That is what I have to offer— my knowledge, skill set, and a love of what I do. “Spa Witz is a simple spa with one simple menu, but it can produce extraordinary results. You simply pick the amount of time you want, and we talk about your needs. I tailor your service to you, and work all my magic. All services at Spa Witz include gratuity. There is no worry about how much, what treatment is right, or how to achieve the results you want. Together we can achieve your goals. With massages, facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and facial waxing... leave your Spa needs to me. And, of course, all treatments are backed by knowledge and powered by love!” Spa Witz is open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is located at 3780 N. Mountain Oak Dr. (4600 E.) in Eden. For more information, please visit www. SpaWitz.com or call 801-921-3804. You may also text Elizabeth at <Spawitz@gmail.com> |
