Show Volume XXIII Issue XIII The Ogden Valley news Page 7 August 1, 2016 Announcements Obituaries Leah Marelda Hogge Cutler June 8, 1916 ~ July 3, 2016 Leah Marelda Hogge Cutler graduated from this earth life Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas at the home of her daughter after reaching her goal of living to be 100 years old. She was born June 8, 1916 in Eden, Utah to Charles Alexander and Lyda Elizabeth Hogge. She was the oldest of seven children and excelled as a school teacher, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all she met. She married Lowell Cutler May 25, 1942 in the Logan Temple. Her special loves were family, quilting, sewing, crocheting and being out Roger Lee Jenkins April 7, 1930 ~ July 14, 2016 Roger Lee Jenkins of Huntsville, Utah, passed away July 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Roger was born April 7, 1930 to Lawrence and Alice Jenkins along Roger Jenkins with his identical twin brother Richard. They were born in Rawlins, Wyoming. They grew up and attended school in Fruitland, Idaho. His earlier years were spent working on the family farm. He was active in 4-H, raising calves and pigs. In May 1949, he joined the U.S. Navy and was in the submarine division stationed in Pearl Harbor during the Korean War. He started working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a trainman and brakeman. He retired in April 1992 after 39 years of service. In July 1957 he met Shirley Stoker on a blind date. They were married November 1, 1957. They enjoyed 59 years together. They have resided for 57 years in Huntsville in the same location. They have three children: Rogina, Diana, and Larry; eight grandchildren; in her yard among her flowers and her garden. She served in the LDS Church Genealogical Extraction Program for 17 years. She was busy serving others all of her 100 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; her parents; two sisters, Donna and Bethene; and two brothers, Melvin and Floyd and her son Bruce Cutler. Her survivors include her daughter Carolyn Curtis (Alan) and two sons, Douglas Cutler (Darla) and Alan Cutler (Susan) and daughter-in-law Dawn Cutler; a sister, Ethel Bullock; a brother, Elmer Hogge (Betty); and a sister-in-law, Melba Hogge. Also surviving is a large posterity of 28 grandchildren and 81 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9 at the North Ogden Stake Center, 626 E. 2600 N. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that friends and family plant a flower in their yard in her memory to make the world a more beautiful place and/or make a donation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary fund or humanitarian aid, thus helping others as Marelda always did. Roger and Shirley enjoyed traveling, taking family trips, and sitting outside and watching the world go by. Roger is survived by his wife, three children, 15 grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Brown; his mother and father; brother, Larry; and sister, Mary Jo. Funeral services were held Monday, July 18 at the South Fork Ward, 277 S. 7400 E., Huntsville. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. Frances Heather (Hall) Lee October 15, 1976 - July 15, 2016 Our cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Frances Heather (Hall) Lee, lost a courageous battle with heart disease July 15, 2016. Frances was born Frances Lee October 15, 1976 in Ogden and was raised by her parents Jed and Michelle Hall in Morgan, Utah. She married Kody Martin Lee September 27, 1996 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden temple November 15, 1997. Together they had two beautiful daughters who were the center of Frances’ universe. Anyone who knew Frances knew that every breath she took was to honor her one true calling: Mother. Frances was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the gospel with all of her heart. Frances enjoyed family time at the family ranch, reading, and making handcrafted gifts for her family and friends. But above all, what she loved the Richard Horace Ensign October 2, 1930 ~ July 14, 2016 Richard Horace Ensign, formerly of Huntsville, returned to his Heavenly Father and loving wife Kathryn July 14, 2016. Richard was born Richard Ensign October 2, 1930 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Horace Samuel Ensign and Olive Mae Jones. He was raised in Ogden and spent summers at the family cabin along the South Fork River near Causey Dam. He attended Ogden High School and the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. He served in the Army Reserve 328th General Hospital Unit at Fort Douglas for eight years. He married Kathryn Fay Jensen March 14, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 56 wonderful years together, first living in Riverdale and then settling in their beloved town of Huntsville. Richard was a devoted caregiver to Kathryn before her passing in July of 2013. He was a loving father and great example to their four children: Carol (Randy) Coleman of Riverdale, Darla (Robert) Taylor of Layton, Richard (Stephanie) Ensign of Kaysville and most was attending every one of her daughter’s many activities and performances. Frances is survived by her sweetheart and eternal companion, Kody; her two beautiful daughters Katelyn (18) and Karina (16), all of Morgan; her parents Jed and Michelle Hall of Morgan; her brother Jacob Morgan Hall (Cristi) of Clearfield; her sister Annette Hudson (Chris) of Manteca, CA; and her in-laws Marty and Luanne Lee of Morgan and Kacy (Jon) Wilson of Hooper. Frances also leaves behind her treasured nieces and nephews Hayden, Sierra, Ethan, Cooper, Carlee, Jacob, Aubriana, Jaxon, Keaton, Boston; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Frances was preceded in death by her sister Katie Hall Chavez (Alvaro) of N. Ogden, her grandparents Grant and Beverly Francis of Morgan, David and Trevelene Hall of Vernal, her birth father Jacob Whitney Pentz of Morgan, and cousin, Jamie Green of N. Ogden. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 21 at the Morgan Stake Center located at 355 N. 700 E. The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude for the amazing care Frances received from the heart failure team at IMC in Murray. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frans Fight at the First National Bank of Morgan. Douglas (Valerie) Ensign of West Haven. He has twelve grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who adore him. Also surviving is his brother, Robert (Lila) Ensign of Reston, Virginia. Richard worked as a pharmacist at his father’s drugstore, Ensign Drug, and became the owner when his father retired. He was the Director of Pharmacy at McKay-Dee Hospital and later worked at the IHC Central Office. While in his 50’s he earned a Master’s Degree from BYU. He was on the Huntsville City Council and volunteered as a pharmacist at the Ogden Rescue Mission. He was a faithful member of the LDS church where he served in many callings, including Bishop, Bishopric Counselor, High Counselor, Stake Young Men’s Counselor, Ward Executive Secretary, Stake Clerk, and Temple Worker. Richard was exceptionally knowledgeable and dedicated to family history. He and Kathryn served a full-time mission for the LDS Church at the Salt Lake Family History Center. He was subsequently an Associate Director of the Ogden Family History Center. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a Family History Missionary by answering calls that were routed to his phone from individuals throughout the world who needed assistance with Family Search.
