It will be held once again at Snowbasin Resort. The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at Earl’s Lodge. Come celebrate in the beauty of Snowbasin at this year’s Trail Mixer with a social and barbeque dinner at Earl’s Lodge. The event will feature live music by local artist John Burrows. Weber Pathways will hold a live and silent auction with well-known auctioneer Chris Zimmerman. Auction items will feature an array of travel and outdoor experience pack- New this year will be the attendance of many of our local retailers who will display their latest offerings of products and service. Buy local; these are the retailers who support Weber Pathways! With your support, Weber Pathways will continue to extend and improve our wonderful system of trails in Weber County.All proceeds from this event will go towards planning, promoting, constructing, and protecting non-motorized public pathways and related open space in Weber County. Tickets for the event are $70 per person and can be purchased online at <www.trailmixertickets.co> For more information, please call 801-393-2304 or email us at <outreach@ weberpathways.org> Office of Outdoor Recreation Opens Grant Program The Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation is accepting applications for the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant, formerly the Utah Waypoint Grant. Nonprofits, youth programs, and local or tribal government agencies may apply to receive up to a 50/50 matching grant of no more than $75,000 to put toward programs that directly benefit the public. “Each year we see increased participation in outdoor activities within our local communities,” said Tom Adams, director of the Office of Outdoor Recreation. “It is important to provide these communities and other invested groups the necessary resources to sustainably plan, prepare, and participate in outdoor recreation.” An important change in this year’s grant is the addition of youth programs to the list of eligible projects. Eligible infrastructure development projects include but are not limited to youth programs, trails, trail infrastructure, and food, games, and drawings. Bring a friend for a free raffle ticket! For additional information, please visit <whslacrosse.com> Eccles Community Art Center Announces Juried Exhibition of Artwork The Eccles Community Art Center’s Main Gallery, located at 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden, will open a juried exhibition of artwork from the 42nd Annual Statewide Competition. The exhibit will open August 5, and continue thru August 27, 2016. A reception for artists and the public will be held August 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in association with Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll. Awards will be posted at the reception. The 42nd Annual Statewide, a juried competition, is comprised of recent works by resident Utah artists in all media except photography. Awards presented will include a monetary trail facilities; restroom facilities near recreational areas; ramps and launch sites that would improve water access; whitewater parks; yurts; and infrastructure for wildlife viewing areas. The project areas must be accessible by the public to qualify. The inaugural round of submissions during 2015 yielded a number of success stories including the opening of the Moab Boulder Park and Highland Bike Park. Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant applications will be accepted until August 11, 2016. Please note that this grant program has limited funding. The program will close once all funds have been distributed. An amazing sight! The Ogden Valley Balloon and Artist Festival is scheduled for August 19, 20 and 21. The event will be held at Eden Park, the site of the first Valley Balloon Festival held in 1994. The festival offers affordable fun for the whole family. This year’s event will feature balloon launches, art booths, and continuous live entertainment featuring an eclectic selection of music, family games, and a diverse group of local food vendors. The popular Balloon Glow at dusk will take place Friday and Saturday evenings, August 19 and August 20.
