Show The Ogden Valley news Page 6 Volume XXII Issue IX July 1, 2014 Announcements Anniversaries Glen and Janet Thompson Glen and Janet Thompson The family of Glen and Janet Thompson are honored to pay tribute to their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary. The family celebrated together at a dinner. Glen and Janet were married June 26, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glen was born in Ogden, Utah to Wells and Elva Thompson. He was raised in Huntsville, Howard and Tana Giles Howard and Tana Giles Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary are Howard and Tana Giles of South Ogden. The couple met on a blind date on February 7, 1958. They were married on June 18, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple. Howard was born and raised in Plain City, Utah. Tana was born and raised in Huntsville, Utah. Both attended Weber High School. After graduating, Howard worked construction and then joined the Army Reserves. Tana worked as a dental assistant and spent five years at the telephone company in the business office. In 1968 they moved to Lancaster, California where they managed a fast food restaurant. Later, the couple moved back to Utah; settling Utah. He graduated from Weber High School. He completed a saddle making apprenticeship at J.G. Read Brothers. Glen has been involved in the saddle-making business for 57 years. He was also employed by Weber County School District. Janet was born in Riverdale, Utah to George and Francis Child. She graduated from Ogden High School. Janet is a homemaker and was also employed by Weber County School District working in the school lunch program. Glen still enjoys his leather shop. And Janet enjoys quilting, gardening, and any type of craftwork. They can often be found working together keeping up their home. Their marriage is a wonderful example to their children and their spouses. They are Matt and Tami Thompson, Eden, Utah; Teresa and Steve Thompson, Ogden, Utah; David and Tammy Perry, Twin Falls, Idaho; and Marty and Monica Thompson, Wellsville, Utah. They have 12 grandchildren. We are so excited to share this milestone and look forward to many more. in North Ogden. In 1981 they started their own construction company. Howard and Tana worked together and successfully ran the business through the good times as well as the bad. In 1999 they sold the business and were able to retire and serve an inner-city LDS Mission in Ogden, Utah for 18 months. Howard and Tana lived in North Ogden for over 25 years; each of them holding various church callings and making wonderful friends in the area. In 2001 the couple moved to South Ogden. Howard and Tana have enjoyed traveling east, west, north, and south together. The couple has met many of their friends while traveling and staying in Palm Desert, California and in Arizona. Tana enjoys spending time in the yard and crocheting gifts for others. Howard enjoys golfing, riding his bike, and spending time in the yard helping Tana. Together, the couple enjoys dancing, playing pickle ball, and movies with family and friends. The couple was blessed with two children, Kathy Bassett (Hal) and Travis Giles; and four baby boys, all of which passed away shortly after birth. They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The couple was honored at a family dinner June 28. Inspirational Thought Wedding Shaun and McKenzie Shaw Bott – Shaw McKenzie Bott and Shaun Shaw were united in marriage May 22, 2014 in the Oquirrh Mountain LDS Temple. A reception was held in their honor that evening at Lomond View Gardens in Pleasant View. The bride is the daughter of Brian and Lori Bott of North Ogden. Parents of the bridegroom are Jeff and Melanie Shaw of Eden. He served in the Belem Brazil LDS Mission, and is taking classes from Brigham Young University. He also works at the family business, Shaw Stucco. McKenzie is finishing school at Weber State University in Child and Family Studies, and also works at the university. The new couple is living in North Ogden, and will later move to the Provo area where Shaun will complete his studies. Five Generations Family Celebrates Five Generations Pictured left is a fivegeneration photograph taken at the Probasco Engine and Tractor Show held June 6 and 7 in Huntsville. In the photo, Opal Probasco holds her great-great-granddaughter McKinlee, alongside great-great-grandfather Harold Probasco. In the back row is McKinlee and Hagen’s mom Kysa Farly, grandmother Michelle Probasco holding Hagen, and great-grandfather Dennis Probasco. Obituaries Glade S. Price December 19, 1928 ~ April 1, 2014 From success you get lots of thing, but not that great inside thing that love brings you. Glade S Price passed -- Sam Goldwyn away April 1, 2014. He was born December 19, 1928 in Provo, Utah, a son of Scott B. and Clara Halverson Price. He was raised in Ogden, and graduated from Ogden High Glade Price School, Weber College, and University of Utah. Glade married Connie Hokanson on February 15, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple. He worked for Rainbow Market, which was family owned and operated until joining Morton Salt Company where he worked for 34 years. He retired as the District Sales Manager of the Intermountain area. He also served on the Board of Directors of Rayco Corporation for many years. Glade was an active High Priest in the Washington Terrace 13th Ward, and over the years has served in many callings—as a missionary in the Mexican Mission; and in Bishoprics, High Councils, and many other callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Glade and Connie served as welfare service missionaries in the Ogden LDS Employment Center. Surviving are his wife of Washington Terrace, and three sons and four daughters: Celeste (Ronald) Taylor, Orem; Debbie (Rex) Mumford, Huntsville; Adair (Scott) Macfarlane, Fruit Heights; Gregory (Lynita) Price, Farr West; Sterling (Shellee) Price, Layton; Laura (Craig) Syme, Frederick, MD; Darwin (Suzy) Price, West Layton; and foster daughter, Sally Clayton, Ogden. He has 31 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren with three on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers: Hal T. Price and Waldo E. Price. Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Washington Terrace 13th Ward, 4855 S. 300 W. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
