He was born on June 23, 1949, to Ruby and Adolf Danks, in Ogden, UT. He graduated from Ogden High School Class of 1968 and Weber John Danks State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1979. He married the love of his life Shauna Nish, on June 27, 1969. They were later sealed in the Bern, Switzerland LDS Temple in 1970. Together they raised their son, John Christian II, their pride and joy. John served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. John had an outstanding career with the Utah Highway Patrol. He was promoted to Sergeant where he was in charge of the Port of Entries for the state of Utah. He was then promoted to Lieutenant where he served in the Training Verl Rasmussen Verl Rasmussen, the second of five children born to Clifford and Bliss Rasmussen, lost his battle with cancer on July 8, surrounded by his loving family. Verl was born in Huntsville, Utah on August 10, 1932. He Verl Rasmussen attended Weber High School. At a young age, he developed a curiosity and passion about all things mechanical; particularly cars. He eventually became a machinist, retiring from HAFB in 1992. He married Yvonne Palmer on January 23, 1955. Verl and Yvonne had six children and were together for the remainder of his lifetime. Throughout that time, Verl’s passion for cars never diminished. He raced them in the early years and was one of the original members of the Wasatch Rods and Customs Car Club. Tinkering with cars was his passion, and although he was not quick to complete projects, he was both thorough, meticulous, and had endless patience. He enjoyed road trips with other car enthusiasts and club members, seeing much of the Western United States. Traveling with family was also an important part of Verl’s life. He made numerous trips Division and later took command of Section II in Weber County until his retirement in 1996. He helped develop Emergency Vehicle Operations for the Peace Officer Standards and Training, Utah Department of Public Safety, and instructed there after his retirement. He was an avid skier, softball player, and golfer. He was instrumental in his son’s development and successes in life. He took great pride watching his son raise 3 precious daughters. He will truly be missed. John is survived by his beautiful wife, Shauna, Layton; son, John Christian II (Marianne); granddaughters, Courtney, Kaley, and Kaci all of Phoenix; and brother, Philip (Patti) Danks, Huntsville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Pyle Danks; father, Adolf Danks; and oldest brother, Richard Danks. Services were held on Monday, July 8, 2013, 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT. Kathryn Fay Jensen Ensign Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend Kathryn Fay Jensen Ensign returned to her heavenly home on July 9, after a short illness. Kathryn Ensign She was born on June 28, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, the sixth child of Wilmer C. and Isabel Grow Jensen. She was raised and educated in Huntsville, graduated from Weber High School, and attended Weber College and BYU. Kathryn married Richard Ensign on March 14, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a dedicated, loving mother to their four children. They lived in Riverdale for 11 years and then settled in Huntsville. She loved the view of the beautiful Ogden Valley from their home. Kathryn was a devoted wife to Richard and especially enjoyed their retirement years. She often commented about the fun they had together as a couple. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including Relief Society President and Counselor, Young Women’s President and Counselor, Primary President and Counselor, Ward Choir Director, Ward Music Chairman, and Compassionate Service Leader. Richard and Kathryn served a full-time mission for the L.D.S. church assigned to the Salt Lake Family History Library from 1997-1998. They continued to serve at the Ogden Family History Center from 1998 until earlier this year. Kathryn cherished the time she spent with to Disney World spending quality time with children and grand children. Verl is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughter Judy (Kelly) Maxwell; sons Randy (Chris), Russell (Julie), Mike (Lori), Matt (Stacie), and daughter in-law Sandy; Sister Dorothy; brothers Robert, Duane, and Terry; seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his faithful companion Koko. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Johnny. Verl was always willing to help anyone in need in any way that he could. He lived a long and full life and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. She often invited her grandchildren for sleepovers which included walks to the river bottoms and park playground. She was an avid quilter and made a beautiful quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. Her family enjoyed her homemade chocolates, rolls, raspberry jam, and apple pie and juice. She loved to sing and participated in various choirs and groups throughout the years. Most importantly, she was an example of faith and testimony to everyone around her. She found joy in serving others. Kathryn cared for her mother, mother-in-law, sister, and neighbors in the later years of their lives. She took great pleasure in her pioneer heritage and compiled extensive family histories and pictures of ancestors to share with relatives. She also volunteered at the Huntsville History Library. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Douglas and Keith, and two sisters, Dorothy and Beth. She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 56 years, four children: Carol (Randy) Coleman of Riverdale, Darla (Robert) Taylor of Layton, Richard (Stephanie) Ensign of Kaysville, and Douglas (Valerie) Ensign of West Haven, one sister Joan (Dwayne) Pace of Wanship, twelve grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13 at the Huntsville LDS 2nd Ward, 277 S. 7400 E. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at VistaCare Hospice in South Ogden, with a special thanks to Ryan and Theresa for their service and kindness.
