Show Volume XX Issue IX The Ogden Valley news Page 13 June 1, 2012 Valley Elementary “Top Dogs” Enjoy a Day of Snowcrest’s Skyhawks of the Month Every month, Snowcrest Jr. High holds the dents are voted on by all of the teachers based Skyhawks of the Month luncheon. At Valley Elementary, we strive to continually honor our Valley Bulldogs who demonstrate their best performance and behavior. The Top Dog award is a monthly award given to one student in each class. They are chosen by their teacher as a student who is continually on task, has all their work completed on time; and is modeling good behavior in the classroom, bathroom, halls, lunchroom, and playground. The monthly top dog winners are given a “Top Dog Tag” and they get to play Nintendo Wii with their grade-level Top Dogs and Mr. Hales, our principal. At Valley Elementary, we recently honored all our Top Dogs for the entire year by rewarding them with a swimming party at the Clearfield Aquatic Center on April 24 and 26. We are pleased to announce our Top Dogs for the school year. Congratulations to these awesome Valley Elementary students! Valley Elementary students stopped, dropped, & read. All year Valley students have participated in the Ken Garff “Road to Success” reading program. During the school year, prizes were awarded, including four bikes donated by Wal-Mart and two savings certificates from Utah Educational Savings Plan. Several weeks ago, students reached their goal of 70,000 days of reading! On the morning of May 15, students and staff members participated in the “Stop, Drop, and Read” celebration. Principal David Hales commented, “We had a great year of reading. Keep up the good work this summer!” put forth effort in specific categories such as: Best Attitude, Way-To-Go, Best All-Around, Leadership, Friendliest, Most Conscientious, All-Around Good Student, and Most Improved. In addition to every department having a student of the month, there is also one boy and one girl selected from each grade as the Skyhawk of the Month, which is the highest recognition in all subject areas. These six stu- The students are then invited to the conference room during their lunch period to enjoy lunch from Valley Market. Snowcrest’s media specialist, Ray Hunter, puts together a fun question and answer game for the students to play while they eat lunch and receive their certificates. This is a great way to celebrate and recognize our students who work hard to go the extra mile each month!
