Show dry concentration may be important factor in gintic tintic what dietz and keedy are doing at the may day mill plant will be ready for operation within a few weeks the courtest of carl F daytz the well known metallurgist wi f is at ork at the a day dr centra toi george M iia es and haush the editor of the be p ceib shown through that plant on tues la of this week carl F dietz and dyke V aeed the es of the dietz company of boston 1 ich is doing the work at the md day mill for the cactus ore company M which the gentlemen are also heavy stockholders dietz and labdy came V eft some months ago tor the purpose of putting up a dry plant in salt lake cli but were unable to secure a de arable site for the plant and hai ing heard of the ma da concentrating plant they came to eureka to in they found that some of tha machinery in the may day mill which w as erected se eral years ago by the crown milling company of san francisco but which bad proven a failure could be made to answer t hir purpose and aa soon as a lease agreement could be arranged between the mav day mining company and mr hanell the owner of the mill dietz and beedy commenced fc ie work of putting in a div concen that there is every reason to believe ill mean a great deal for not only the may day mining company aad the gintic tintic district but the entire ant it is a ft ell known fact that with wet concentration it is almost an impossibility to make any kind of decent saving of silver alues unless the silver comes along vuth the lead in so many case the sil er is atad from the lead and the water it out along with the tailings in dry concentration it is not so much the saving in ater necessary to operate a wet concentrator but the 1 saving of silver values which cannot fo adin gd in other wa about the imly part of the old ma day mill L that will be used when the new procesa of dietz and 1 kaady la in operation is the ore crushers and the rolls the old about ten number have been dis baided and one sizing machine known aa the keedy ore sizer ill tale the place of all these old machines the keedy oie sizer is in part an aven tion of dyke V keedy and the one v aich has been installed at the may day mill will have a capacity of be tween 40 and 50 tons of ore daily this will be sufficient for the present but latel perhaps the capacity ill hae to be inci eased the keedy ore sizer has been in use in the plant of the warren separating company at warren N II 11 for some cars an has been a success in ever wa the system there being tl e same that is the close sizing and then the jigging dry of the product of the sizer on the may day ores mr dietz says it is essentially a matter of proper adjustment to suit the con editions produced by a heavier gangue and lighter mineral than is with sulphides sulp hides in quartz the nearer the weight of mineral and gangue ap the the sizing must be and ft e can resolve the ore into 20 sizes it found desirable instead of ten with practically no additional milling cost this can be done b running two machines in series or by constructing one machine to do the work the machines re quire no attention when once adjust ed except occasional greasing and consume one hors power of energy when under full load and speed and our smallest sizer handles from 40 to 50 tons per day we axe adopting dry aggs to the handling of this oie which are an im provement pro on the hooper ig of established reputation in the mining world we will also in stall some dry tables as soon as the shipment can arrive and have dry concentrators of other forms also to test out against those mentioned one of the essential features 14 the dust system which collects fugitive sil er and lead values liberated dun ig the crushing this also makes the mill practically free aiom dust and there is absolutely no danger of being leaded while worling in the mill the entire system of crushing is de signed to produce the least possible quantity of sli riles and is known as th gradual reduction method the bag house into which the dust is earned is a feature that was not perfected at the time the crown milling company was experimenting with the may day mill all of the dust is conveyed by pipes to the bag house where it settles a high grade silver lead prod let and is read for shipment wath the concentrates dietz and keedy have al ready made sufficient tests to show that their process emphatically points toward had it not been for the breaking in shipment of some of their macam ery and the difficulty experienced in securing new parts the dry concen ft ha e been working be fore this however it will not be more than a few weeks before the plant is in successful operation As soon as the dry concentrator is in successful operation on may da ores it is the intention of dietz and keedy to make trial runs rn antii 1 s a machines upon ore from oth i inn 1 u well as from leeral properties in arizona and mexico where at some future date plants will no doubt be constructed ad |
