On April 13 at 7:00 p.m., all the princes and princesses in the Valley are invited to hop onto their magic carpets, saddle up their Pegasus, or step into their pumpkin carriages and join the Ogden Valley Branch Library staff for an evening of jubilation fit for a king! The event will kickoff with entertaining retellings of some of the most cherished fairytales of all time and be followed by whimsical games and crafts. And before the evening is over, everyone will get the change to kiss the frog prince or princess! Light refreshments will be served. Bonneville High School Student Art and Photography Exhibit at the Ogden Valley Library An art and photography exhibition featuring the students of Bonneville High School will be on display in the Lorna Wattis Swanson Gallery of the Ogden Valley Branch Library, 131 S. 7400 E., in Huntsville. Bonneville High School is committed to providing an environment of meaningful learning activities where students gain problem-solving skills that will help them become more productive members of society and lifelong learners. The students of Bonneville High and their instructors would like to invite the community of Weber County to view a collection of their work. Salt Lake City Ballet Presents Alice in Wonderland at the Peery’s Egyptian Theater Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, comes alive in a charming original ballet choreographed by award-winning Artistic Director Cristóbal Márquez. Alice in Wonderland will run April 10 through April 11 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on April 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Peery’s Egyptian Theater, located at 2415 Washington Blvd. in Ogden, Utah. Group rates are also available. Salt Lake City Ballet invites you to follow Alice on an enchanting journey down the rabbit hole into the fanciful world of Wonderland! Lewis Carroll’s storybook masterpiece leaps off the page and onto the stage with original, classical ballet choreography by award-winning director, Cristóbal Márquez. All ages will be captivated by the balletic elegance of Salt Lake City Ballet’s company dancers as they pirouette through a frenzy of mad tea parties, marching cards, and the Queen of Heart’s outlandishly extraordinary court! The Salt Lake City Ballet company is proud to unveil the anticipated premiere performance of Alice in Wonderland at the historic Peery’s Egyptian Theater in Ogden. Peery’s Egyptian Theater is one of only two “atmospheric” Egyptian-themed theaters in the nation, and is also acknowledged as an official historic site on the National Registry of Historic Sites. For this performance, Salt Lake City Ballet’s company dancers are proud to collaborate with other talented dancers from throughout the state of Utah. After auditioning for the chance to take the stage with SLCB’s company members, many exceptional local performers from Huntsville, Ogden, Roy, Kaysville, Layton, Park City, Provo, and Salt Lake City have come together for this breath-taking ballet. Cristóbal Márquez’s unique choreographic expertise, garnered from years of professional experience, domestic and abroad, offers both the dancers and the audience an inspiring opportunity to escape to Wonderland through classical ballet and the music of Richard Hartley and Joseph Horovitz. Easter Sunrise Service Balloon Release on Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. on the mall in Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd. in Ogden. Those wishing to attend the Easter Memorial Balloon Release are requested to be at the Memorial Park mall prior to 2:30 p.m. to decorate their balloon. Felt-tipped pens will be available to write the message on the balloons or prepared messages may be written to be inserted in the balloons prior to their being filled for release. A helium tank is available to fill the balloons. The balloons Planet Rainbow Presents First Friday Psychic Fling Planet Rainbow at Rainbow Gardens is proud to announce its First Friday Psychic Fling, Friday night, April 3, 2009. Rainbow Visions and its resident Intuitive Consultants will host an open house that evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to better introduce the Intuitive Arts to Ogden’s inquiring public. Guests will be able to meet and mingle with Rainbow Visions’ 5 Intuitive Consultants who are here on a weekly basis. After the very successful Richard Caldwell photo exhibit, Rainbow Gardens and Planet Rainbow have decided to convert the Rainbow Gallery into a new art-show exhibition space. The construction, which will include gallery lighting and background wall space, will be completed by June 1, and will allow the Gardens to participate fully in the First Friday Art Walk, with shows planned each month for the remainder of 6:00 am – 7:00 am 7:00 am 9:00 am – 9:00 pm 2009. Because of the exceeding popularity of Jeanine Downing’s show, the Greenery Restaurant will continue to exhibit her work through First Friday April 3. Her all-encompassing floral art has won the hearts of many. A group of new paintings have replaced the ones that have already found their way in to Ogden homes. The show is a breath of spring, and not to be missed! In the months to come, Planet Rainbow hopes to introduce various unique artists of Utah, as well as many talented local practitioners of the Intuitive Arts. Complementary refreshments will be served. Phil Hopkins Featured Artist for April at Gallery 25 Phil Hopkins will be the featured artist at Gallery 25 in Ogden for the month of April. Phil is equally adept in both watercolors and oils and his subject matter varies widely. Old cars and trucks, and weathered or historic buildings are favorite subjects. Phil’s career as an illustrator for major companies shows in the precise drawing behind each painting. He has been represented by galleries in Ohio, Arizona, California, as well as Utah. Phil’s paintings are in private and public collections across America. His painting of the steamboat Delta Queen was purchased by the cruise line and a local bank features three of Phil’s Arches Park landscapes. Phil is the newest member of Gallery 25, and the gallery will have an opening reception for his show on Friday, April 3 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Continuing artwork will also be on display by gallery members Lucile Chamberlin, Keith Dabb, Lauri Eskelson, Carol Fielding, Jeff Hepworth, Liz Pierce, Mac Stevenson, Lorin Wilde, and Doug Wride.
