He is also survived by sons Russell (Marlene) Price of Shelby, Montana; Richard (LeAnn) Price, Hooper, Utah; and daughter Donna (Ivan) Beck, Poulsbo, Washington. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one more due in December. Sisters Dottie Helman, Joann Angler, and numerous nieces and nephews. Russell was preceded in death by daughter Corrine Reynolds and two grandsons. A private service was held on May 5, 2007 in Poulsbo, Washington. Francis D. Rhodes “Dusty” Formerly of Layton, Utah Francis D. Rhodes died May 30 of pneumonia after suffering a devastating stroke on Mother’s Day in Cortez, Colorado where he had retired to in September 2004 with his wife to enjoy fishing in the area he was born and raised. He was born October 18, 1935 in McPhee, Colorado to Francis “Ole” Rhodes and Mary E. Ferguson. He was raised in Silverton and graduated from high school there in May 1954. In September of 1954 he joined the Air Force and made a career of it, traveling extensively with photo mapping and serving in Vietnam. He loved every minute of his Air Force experience, and in 1957, while stationed in England, he met the love of his life, Madeline R. Ayton. They married March 21, 1959 in Cromer, Norfolk, England. From the moment they met, until his last moments with her, they simply adored each other. They came to Utah in 1972. Dusty retired from the Air Force October 1, 1974. He and his family made their home in Layton for 32 years, where he continued to work at Hill Air Force Base, expanded his education at Weber State University, worked for Southern Pacific RR, and most recent before his move, Durk’s Plumbing Supply in Layton. He spent many hours on his property above Huntsville planting and tending trees and creating a quiet, beautiful spot to enjoy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Madeline; Francis Rhodes daughter, Laurie Rae (John B.) Maw, Layton; son Mathew R. Rhodes, Ogden; granddaughters Cajun B. Dawson and Sonya E. Langston along with her Flanc Michael J. Kinsey Jr.; greatgrandchildren Dakota Courtland and Nova Rae, with a third due in August, all of Layton. Three sisters: Darlene Rhodes, Tucson, AZ; Iva (Jim) McCoy, Ignatio, CO; and Teri (Steve) Kile, Talorsville, UT.; many nieces and nephews; his loving in-laws, Captain (Brian) and Mrs. (Jane) Aldred; mother-in-law Elsie Ayton, all of Wroxham, Norfolk, England; and two special canines, Sparkey and Meggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister JoEllen, and father-in-law Samuel Ayton. Dusty overcame many difficulties in life; he always worked hard, loved his wife with every ounce of his soul, enjoyed the outdoors—especially fishing, and camping. He was a brilliant mechanic and could build and fix almost anything, which he often did. He suffered from but dealt bravely with Crohn’s disease. This complicated and sometimes slowed his enjoyment in his last years and his wish was a cure for this condition. His family requests that you please make a donation in the name of Francis D. His wishes were to be cremated and scattered in the beautiful mountains of Silverton. Bliss is survived by her children, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Colleen Kirkpatrick of Logan. Bliss Hawks Rasmussen, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Heritage Park Care Center. She was born March 2, 1912 in Portage, Utah to Franklin Levi and Cloe Maria Harris Hawks. O n December 17, 1929, Bliss married Clifford H. Rasmussen in Huntsville, Utah. Together they had five Bliss Rasmussen children: Dorthy and Gene Randles, Verl and Yvonne Rasmussen, Duane and Joan Rasmussen, Robert and Joan Rasmussen, and Terry and Penny Rasmussen. Clifford preceded her in death on April 29, 1988. Bliss worked at the Gray Cliff Lodge in Ogden Canyon and retired in 1974. She went back to school and received her high school diploma on June 7, 1990 at the age of 78. She was a member of The Church of Irene Sperry Mom entered into eternity on June 11, 2007 at 4:12 p.m. from home, as she wished, after an eight year battle with Alzheimer’s in which she had many victories. She endured the difficulties of this disease well, and carried a sense of humor and a sweet spirit throughout. I r e n e Irene Sperry was born on September 24, 1921 in Providence, Rhode Island to Ernest and Lillian Hoyle but was raised by her loving grandparents Henry and Margaret Hampson. Mom moved to Orlando, Florida in 1943 to work for the phone company. It was there, on October 7, 1944, that she married the only man she would ever love, Hugh C Sperry.
