It took just two minutes or so and might save the fire department a couple of minutes in the event of a fire emergency. Those minutes saved at a time of a fire just may save your life or one of your neighbor’s. The Valley is huge, and the fire department can’t possibly clear all of the hydrants in the Valley so let’s all pitch in and help out. It’s also a great idea to place address numbers on your mailbox or house where they are clearly visible from the street. Remember, minutes count in a fire or medical emergency, and being able to find your house is the first s The W Departments do a great job up here in the Valley, and we personally want to thank each and every one of them. Please note: The following editorial was written in response to an article that appeared in the December 15, 2005 issue of The OGDEN VALLEY NEWS regarding pr meee development at Powder Mountain Jim & Ruthann Halay, Eden What Spectacular Beauty We Have in This Valley As my husband and I were both returning home to Eden from town on December 16, we made the turn across the dam and headed east. Both of us happened to look up and saw the beautiful yellow full moon. Amazingly, it was the backdrop for a large, white gilded cloud formation that was shaped like a perfect “Z” with the moon perfectly centered behind it. It was a Zorro moon, and one of the prettiest sites we’d ever seen. It was unbelievable. My husband was traveling in the car in front of me. He called me on the cell phot and asked, “Do you see the Zorro moon If anyone oe this editorial saw this amazing phenomenon, please call and let me On another trip into town one day in December, in full daylight, the reservoir was sparkling as if it were one large lake of diamonds; did anyone see this? What spectacular beauty we have in this Valley. Please call and share with me if you saw either of these amazing sites. We are in agreement with the om of Paradise, but we have several additional reasons for not wanting to approve a 3,580 acre development at Powder Mountain! After years of searching for a perfect place to live, on July 24, 2001 we purchased a % acre lot in a gated community at Kanaka Rapids Ranch in Idaho. Shortly thereafter, all of us suffered a great shock! Before we could begin to build, a lawsuit was launched against 150 homeowners that claimed that the property was sold to us illegally. That lawsuit is now in the hands of the Idaho Supreme Court. Then mandatory retirement and open heart surgery put our dream of building on the back burner. Aging parents were a consideration. We decided to re-think our future move to Idaho because our property in Idaho was tied up in court and my 88 year old father appealed to our softer side and asked us not to move so far away because he needed our help. Because this man has always been so independent, we knew that he must really need our assistance. In February 2004, we began looking for property that would at least come near to our beloved acreage in Idaho. Our dream was to move out of the hub ofa big city and relocate to a less stressful region. We began looking in Heber City, Oakely, Wanship, Morgan, and then Mountain Green. Then we traveled over Trapper’s Loop and found it! In July 2004, we purchased property in Liberty and in June of 2005, excavation began for what would become our new and beautiful home in the perfect location. This was a long time coming, and the Inspirational Thought ber of the person submitting the material. We cannot understand why still another valley must be swallowed up by the commercialism of the 21st century. It literally made us ill to think that this Valley could become another Deer Valley! When we wanted peace and quiet, we used to travel to Park City, Utah. Now that this community is fashioned after Salt Lake City, we travel past the Park City exit as fast as we can drive! Please, we need to preserve some of our open land. The charm of the Valley is the aged Eden Valley Store and Diner. The Jackson Inn has a delicious brunch in a quiet, unhurried old milk house turned into a semi-modern lodge. The fourway stop with only one grocery store and gas station keeps with the tranquility and charm of the Valley. While our home is being built, we are living in a condominium near the road to Powder Mountain. There are multiple unused condominiums in this area to accommodate both summer and winter short and long term tenants. Still, we have noticed a huge increase in traffic since we purchased the property just one year ago, and property taxes have increased a one third or more in this same single e article a that the project at Ponidet Mountain will not proceed without input from the community. This is our response. Hopefully, there will be a sufficient outcry from the community to stop this a into huge commercialism! valley is one of the few areas to remain so isolated from the modern world, but so near to everything you could possibly want or need. Why try to fix something that isn’t broken! "Life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage. en, the right to select which material will be considered for publication.
