Volunteers as young as four years of age came to clean up the canyon from unsightly debris. Angela Smith and her three children Alannah, Liam, and Nathanael, along with her Dad and brother came from Farr West to help. Angela stated, ““We come up here a lot to hike, raft, and fish the river. We wanted to do something to give back to the Canyon.” = a Photo courtesy of Helene Liebman of Eden. Keith Rounkles said, “Last year’s fall Ogden Canyon clean-up was definitely apparent by the lack of trash and flotsam at the Pineview Reservoir spillway this spring. Last year volunrs collected dump trucks of garbage which included about everything you could think of, even 80 diapers. Even with a heavy draw from water being released at the spillway. this year it is free of debris.” Weber County Director of Storm Water Management George Burbidge was on hand to lend a hand. He wanted to remind everyone that Weber County has adopted the slogan, “If you wouldn’t drink it, don’t dump it.” This new slot ical part they have in 1 helping to quality within the county, as well as Dumping of oils, antifreeze, ao ze toxic chemicals; the improper use of pesticides and fertilizers; and improper agriculture practices such as confined animal operations on waterways all impact the quality of everyone’s water. The following businesses donated to this year’s event. Donations included a myriad of items that were to volunteers who participated in the semi-annual clean up. Alpine Pizza, Great Harvest Bread Co., Alaskan Inn, The Oaks, Gray Cliff Lodge, Bistro 258, Prairie Schooner, Panhandler, Ogden City, Weber County, Red Moose Lodge, Timbermine, Dinosaur Park, White Fig, Shooting Star Saloon, A Change of Face, The Daily Rise, Rooster 's Restaurant, Shrimp Boat Café, Lorine Murtagh Hansen. In back, are Bill Allison, Jennifer Allison, a Horna, John Slack, and John Klisch. Adopt-A-Trail Program This year, Ogden Valley Pathways is working families, businesses, and groups will adopt a trail or portion of a trail and provide for maintenance, such as trimming back ‘branches, mowing sides when needed, and collecting trash. Some groups may even want to do some simple trail construction, or add trail signs or trail head markers. OVP signs at the adopted trailhead will recognize the group that has adopted the trail. And adopting groups will receive OVP guidelines and technical assistance.
